Women's team leading #20 Purdue at Half
Women's team leading #20 Purdue at Half
Up 18-16 in a game that has been pretty sloppy so far. Decided to bite the bullet and pay for the stream on AmericaOne while listening on the radio so I could see the inside of The Stroh with people in it. Hoping they can hold on in the second half!

Lost tonight 54-53. Had the lead with 20 seconds left but the Purdue guard inbounded off the back of Rogers and laid it in untouched. Couldn't get the last shot to fall.

Rogers played a hell of a game too. Two sloppy plays in the last 20 seconds cost BG. But they really played a pretty messy game and had every chance to beat a top 20 team. They should be fine in the MAC. Again. Roll along!

Yahoo had Purdue at number 16, not number 20.
Re: Women's team leading #20 Purdue at Half
They're 16/20 depending on the poll.
Re: Women's team leading #20 Purdue at Half
The last 20 seconds didn't cost us the game....didn't help but there were other things that happened earlier. We just remember last thing. Best part is the team grew last night. The coaching staff & players are being patient with each other. Curt said in several interviews he wants growth & wins/losses now are not as important. He wants as always the team playing their best basketball from January through April. He said 13 tries to find the answers for MAC play & beyond. BiG steps tonight. Jump on for the wild ride, they will soar. Stay positive!!!!!

How many times has Shafir done this to BG the last couple years? You would think Miller would be pounding this home by nowdrumstix2388 wrote:Lost tonight 54-53. You're blaming Miller? What about Brandon? He has a role in this.

Never. This is Rogers first year playing for us
Besides, that would be the responsibility of an ASSISTANT coach - either Brandi or Kevin. Who do we want to blame?
Thank you! I'll be here the remainder of the week.

The point being is that this has happened to a BG team enough in the past that it should have been corrected by now. And that falls on the head coach. This is an out of bounds defensive scheme that we are running by not having a defender facing the inbounder. And it should be made clear to the player nearest the inbounder every time they practice it.
And I watch a lot of basketball and I haven't seen this happen to any other team in recent memory.

Maybe I'm stupid (actually, I AM stupid), but I don't remember this happening TO BGSU very often, other than once by Shafir. I remember Kate Achter doing this numerous times. I have to think that, despite Thursday night's play, our plus-minus in this area is still a positive number.Redwingtom wrote:The point being is that this has happened to a BG team enough in the past that it should have been corrected by now. Also, I'm going to go the glass-half-full route and be happy that BGSU, despite playing a far-from-perfect game, was able to hang with a top-20 team.
