Urban/Stud to OSU?
Reports swirling online that Urban has accepted the OSU job and that coach Stud will be his OC.

If that is true, it'll be one of the more unsurprising headlines from college football this season.jpfalcon09 wrote:Reports swirling online that Urban has accepted the OSU job and that coach Stud will be his OC.
Everybody, get your shots in now, because O$U will be competing for national titles again by 2014.

Re: Urban/Stud to OSU?
2014?...more like 2013 or even 2012...get him hired in time to make a final recruiting run and he could do some damage nationally this year. Who's more popular in Ohio...in Florida? He'd be the man in two states...hell, with Joe Pa blowing up Pennsylvania, he might be the man there too. He could put a hell of a class together in a month and a half and it isn't like the cpboard is bare in Columbus right now..

I'm with Flip...
I think with Urban Meyer OSU could compete for a national championship as soon as next year. They already have the athletes and a potential future Heisman in Braxton Miller running that offense (yes he will get there in a spread offense)
Look for Urban to get as much speed as he can in the '12 recruiting class if he is able to finish it.
Even though it would pain me to see Meyer at OSU because I'm a Michigan fan...I think it would be a great fit.

Urban just said he has not been offered and has not accepted any job while calling the Michigan game.

Re: Urban/Stud to OSU?
We all know around here what he did in 2002 so I would take that statement with a grain of salt. He's not gonna say anything about anything while the current season is still being played and he has contractual obligations to cover games for ESPN.camkru9701 wrote:Urban just said he has not been offered and has not accepted any job while calling the Michigan game.

I know, as he was saying I was thinking how he's learned to play the PR game much better than he did when he was here.

When he was here he said "I'm not pursuing any other opportunities". His agent, on the other hand....

Says: I've not been offered and not accepted a job.
Means: My agent is negotiating terms of the offer and we should have an announcement on the day after tOSU/Michigan game.

Re: Urban/Stud to OSU?
Here is something interesting to consider. Urban has won with other coaches recruits. At BG he did it with Blackney players, at Utah (I don't know the coach before him), and at Florida he did it with Zook's players. All schools have had some down years after he left (Except BG). I want to see what he can do over a 10 year period before I call him great.
Those who can't do, teach. Those who can't teach, teach PE.
Re: Urban/Stud to OSU?
Huh? Bowling Green went 11-3, 9-3 winning 2 bowl games the 2 years after. Mind you he only had 2 real recruiting years @ BG.daspollak wrote:Here is something interesting to consider. Urban only spent 2 years at Utah, he only won them a Fiesta Bowl and got them their highest ranking ever. He had 1 full year recruiting...the seniors he recruited ended up winning the Sugar Bowl and beating Alabama. 22-2 (13-1)
At Florida he won 2 National Championships, the Sugar Bowl, the SEC twice and had a record of 65-15 (36-13). Florida implemented an entirely new offense and defense this season and has been wrecked by injuries.
The guy has a record of 104-23...he's a great coach.
