I decided to travel down to Oxford this weekend to shoot the Miami games and visit some family and friends while I was down in the area (I grew up in Cincinnati).
Friday night - We played the best first period I think I've seen this team play. Fast to the blue line and through the zone, but were still weren't getting the breaks we needed. The looks on goal were ok, but we weren't putting enough traffic in front of the net for them to matter.
Saturday night - Pretty different lineup than the night before. The teams were a little more chippy than the night before, but not fighting after every play like I've seen before. Every goal Miami put in the net, we were able to answer. BG's fourth goal was something else. I was shooting from right behind the net when Carpenter skated down the team boards and across the blue line into the zone and threw one on net. As I looked down to the goal line, I saw the puck barely trickle in, but it was across the line. It was moving so slow it was hard to believe it went in.
You could tell Miami's gameplan got hosed as soon as the Falcons scored their 2nd goal. They just played off the rest of the night and then the penalties started happening.
The shootout was fun. I have cell phone videos from all of Miami's attempts. I'll post those up in a bit. Here's the two albums from the game. Steve Cady Arena is a FANTASTIC place to play hockey. It's like going to a pro game, honestly. It doesn't have that many seats, but the experience... holy cow. It's bright, the pregame light shows/intro/etc. are fantastic and the atmosphere is great. If we ever get a place to play like that... wow.

Thanks Todd! Outstanding stuff!!!! And love the "in person" view of the game. We watched both games. Friday on the internet feed and Saturday on ONN. Both were crappy feeds, but it was nice to actaully WATCH both games since we couldn't go down for them. Fantastic effort by the boys, FINALLY rewarded!!
GO FALCONS!!

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Congrats CB and Falcons...GREAT effort to come from behind in a hostile environment!
It's a MAJOR step in building confidence and gaining conference POINTS.
Couldn't help be notice that MU's press release seriously downplayed the shootout, referring to the result as a TIE....OK, we all know it IS actually a tie...but that same press referred to their shootout win last weekend against Michigan as a WIN. Gotta love the spin.

Goal breakdown is up... Check out the 1st and 4th goals, you can see me cheering in the right corner of the rink. After the 4th, the boys came over and celebrated with us!

For what it's worth, Northern had a goal almost identical to that disallowed because of "intent to blow the whistle." Puck made it to the back of the net before the whistle, the ref signaled goal, then changed his mind after reviewing the goal. Complete hose job. He must have intended to blow the whistle the instant the puck hit the goalie.toddpav wrote: BG's fourth goal was something else.
