Quick final thoughts ...

Matt Schilz ... WTF? Where have you been all year? He's had some good moments this year, some inconsistent moments, but the Matt we saw today is an all conference caliber QB. I sure hope whatever Matt ate for breakfast this morning becomes part of his daily routine.
Seniors ... thank you. Thank you for four years, an up and down ride. Their first game was a win over Pitt, including Bojicic making sports center, they went to a bowl game, they were so close to another one this year, they supported Freddie Barnes' great year, they helped anchor the transition from Brandon to Clawson, and they never quit even with a miserable 2010 and an often down 2011. Thank you seniors. You will be missed.
And on that note ... seniors played GREAT today. Binky, Kamar, Keven Jones, Bojicic, all those guys played great today.
I'm still not sure what I think about the offensive playcalling. The last two games were excellent. Best since the Idaho game. But October and early November playcalling was hard to watch.
Defensive line looked pretty dominant today. 3 of 4 starters return next year. Thank you Kevin Jones for four great years, and today was his best game. Period.
Speaking of returning starters ... yeah we lose some depth on defense, but 10 of 11 defensive starters return next year.
Speaking of depth ... Keith Morgan, you will be missed. For those who don't have the pleasure of knowing Keith or meeting his family, I hope you get the chance to meet the guy and say hi to his folks. Classy, classy family.
Wide receivers ... there's five guys that aren't coming back next year. Binky, Jorden, Hodges, Hutson, and Jones. Ray Hutson had some great moments this year, Justus Jones never gave up on a play, Adrian Hodges was reliable on third down, Binky was lights out as a deep threat, and Kamar Jorden will go down as one of our all time best. I fully expect to see Jorden wearing an NFL uniform this time next year and I hope for the same for Binky. I wouldn't even be surprised to see Hodges and maybe Hutson get some time working out with NFL scouts. You never know, one of those guys may suddenly come on strong for the scouts.
The team turned around 3 games vs last year. Credit Clawson. However, 8-4 or so was absolutely within this team's reach. The message for next year ... finish. Finish teams out in the fourth quarter. Improved depth should help. With all the starters returning next year and Clawson's young recruits getting a year older, Bowling Green has got to be considered a legit MAC East contender next year.
Brian Schmidibush ... or however its spelled ... should be first team all MAC this year. And next year. And the year after. Can we just keep him past 2014?

Again ... thank you seniors for four years. Thank you for never giving up when things looked down. Thank you for transitioning to a new coaching staff and not giving a load of pains to the new guys. Thank you for providing leadership to the young guys, and thank you for accepting backup / depth roles while supporting the young players. Thank you for everything.

Go Falcons!!

Didn't see the game but wouldn't most QBs who were All-Conference caliber complete at least 50% of their passes against Buffalo?

One of the more promising aspects of today's game was that the team didn't quit. It would have been very easily for this team, playing in a game that meant nothing, to quit when they were down 10 Pts on two separate occasions.

I give alot of credit to coach Clausen and his staff to keep the team motivated.

Honestly, I thought the game was over when UB had that pick 7 off the screen pass :)

Bitch when we lose....bitch when we win.....do yo even like BGSU, Drago? Or are you so hung up on the AD that you're going to put a negative spin on everything?
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

The wind was pretty nasty. Throwing into it screwed up a whole lot of passes. Heck Omar in 2005 had similar difficulties playing at Buffalo.

Funny thing.....I mentioned in a post prior to the UB game that we seemed to have forgotten John Pettigrew.... glad to see we "rediscovered" him on Friday. He had some excellent HS stats even though he played for a small school....it's easily the best I recall seeing him play...he seems to have a different gear going E-W, then turning upfield. The few losses were usually from backside people catching him as he was ready to move upfield...that was more a blocking problem than his running...IMO.

BG looked solid all day. Yeah we started slowly but put the friggin talon on the throat after that. THAT is how to finish games. I don't buy this UB is horrible stuff...they beat OH and lost to NIU by 1...they were capable of playing well.

Pettrigrew had a nice game in relief and it was good to see Martin gets some carries...he was questionable. Schilz looked great. Remember, Sheehan had some tough moments his first two years. Schilz will be very solid the next couple years. Soph to JR year is the greatest improvement. He need to learn to consistently make good decisions and then look out.

Also, BG was 4-4 with 4 TDs in the Red Zone....nice to see the excution.

We had a blast at the game and made the drive well worth it. Let's get to Signing Day and Spring Ball...I can't wait for next yr.

Flipper wrote:Right now Schilz is over 3000 yards passing for the year with 28 TD's and 13 INT's. He's made some bad decisions here and there...but this kid does not suck
:supz:

This offseason is huge for Matt....it gets mentioned a QB makes his biggest improvement from his SO to JR season. Of course, we'll need a few young WR's to step up and/or pick up a couple JUCOs (Worked out well with Jorden and Cooper). The worst thing about Matt's poor decisions is they were at the worst possible times in games. This reminds me an awful lot of Sheehan...had his issues the first two years and then tore it up his last two. If Matt takes the next step, he could really be something cuz he has the talent. Gonna be a fun ride in 2012.
