Re: BG - Temple
Congrats Falcons. Love to see JGH's spin on these things over on the MAC board. Mighty Temple was going to lay waste to the MAC-now they are a mediocre team missing several starters. For those who don't visit there JGH is sort of Dustin with a brain. Its killing him that Temple can't beat an average MAC team in football after three years in the league. Now he has to put up with this.

I don't think TicketMaster sells the student tickets even when they aren't coming back early from Thanksgiving. Most the tickets on the East end were for sale. They also don't seem to release tickets in the premium areas - sideline.gmartin wrote:Last week some of you were saying ticketmaster was showing this game as nearly sold out. Looking at the video feed we are lucky to have over 1000. If Ticketmaster reported this as having no tickets our AD needs to look into that. Very small crowd today.
Finding this is the case at other schools as well. When I wanted to see some local kids play at the The OSU I found they did not release lower level and club level tickets until 9-10 hours before the game. I think this allows them to sell or use them at their ticket office.
I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.

The explains his low-key approach during pre-game introductions. Unfortunate to hear of injury but glad he's not working through a change of attitude. I love an agressive small point that makes things happen defensively. My kids love the fact he does so well among the trees as well. I think he's the kid favorite because they can relate to his size.gmartin wrote:Crawford has a hip injury and that is why he didn't start

He also registered his first career block tonight, at the very end to finish off the OwlsFalconTurf wrote:The explains his low-key approach during pre-game introductions. Took my father in law to the game today. He was in love with Crawford before the game, and his play today solidified that. Wondered why he came off the bench...
Overall though, today was really fun. Got to BG around noon for Myles, and then got to take in my first athletics event at the Stroh. What a great trip and excellent time I had!
Yeah, I was really scratching my head based on the availability I saw on ticketmaster, but the previous explanation seems to make sense. I think they overcompensated how many tickets they held for this one, big time, though. Would've loved to select some of the isle seats I saw that were open. Tickets should be first come first serve in my opinion. Students can sort their ticket situation out in advance just like us normal people have to when we want to go to a game. Anyways once the game was going, we put a seat between us and were able to sprawl out a bit which was nice.
The Stroh is a must see on a first hand basis for anyone who hasn't been yet. I look forward to attending many events in the future.
Side note about the hospitality at the arena. We got there and went to the wrong ticket stand to pick up will call tickets. One of the workers offered to walk us through the hall of fame area to the other side so we didn't have to go out and around in the rain which I thought was nice. They didn't have to do that.

Great win. The entire reason I did not go was because I had heard on here it was nearly sold out. Wish we would have went now. Atleast I got to see a Bengal win.
Re: BG - Temple
I read where it said Temple had won 12 consecutive games over MAC teams before today. I know they were missing a starter, but I really didn't see much of a difference between the two teams today IMO. Pretty straight up, could have gone either way. We just made an extra play or two. Very nice win, and a much needed one considering the amount of road games we now have coming up.
GO BG!!!
Re: BG - Temple
Good all-around BG effort after the GW loss. Lots of contributors. BG scores 7 of last eight points in the game.

Yeah, in hindsight I figured that the posts on here might've kept those who would have bought tickets at the gate away. Bummer.

Really sucks that you guys that wanted to go thought that there weren't any good tickets. I was wondering what was up when I saw how few people were there with just 5:00 before the game. Sad...
Especially since you missed out on a simply fantastic back and forth basketball game. We couldn't defend their guards well and they had no answers for our post game down low. Overall I again though this team played MUCH better with Brown at the point than Crawford, but Crawford hit the big shot to put us ahead for good...then single handedly broke the press for the dunk by Calhoun.
I think if Dee continues to be the better PG I'd like to see the freshman guards mixed in with him more often. Not a fan of Kraus still, even though he has hit more shots this year than he did last year.
Great games from Black & Calhoun though. Brown played really well. Sealey played well at times as well.
No matter what this team is really fun to watch and we have a GREAT arena to watch them in. This is going to be a VERY fun season, IMO.

Ya know, I must agree that we looked very smooth with Brown at point. He doesn't prematurely force things - he gives the offense breathing room to run. Overall, the team played extremely well together. That was some of the best team basketball that I've seen BG play in a looooong time.hammb wrote:Really sucks that you guys that wanted to go thought that there weren't any good tickets. Cameron Black looked much better versus Temple. Black was very impressive - I have renewed hopes in him. He executed some very quick, tough moves in the low post and got after the boards.
Scott Thomas looks like he's really grown into his game. He's playing with a lot of savvy and confidence. He's hitting shots and gambling intelligently on defense. He's curling up to the high post and popping from the elbow with quickness and precision.
I think that Kraus is a tough on the ball defender and will continue improving his 3pfg%. He's strong and plays tough. He's willing to mix it up with anybody anytime. He's a fighter. I'd like to see him be more mobile on the perimeter and be better at moving without the ball.

Re: BG - Temple
Amazing how loud the Stroh Center is compared to AA. I think they got that part right (along with many other parts).

WE thought the same thing about the "loudness" transfer.
The reason we looked so good Sunday, in my opinion, is simply because we made shots, whcih is something that we don't always do, whether we have open shots or not. A D-1 player is suppose to make an wide open 10-15 footer, 60-70 % of the time, if not more. Let's hope we can keep up the improved shooting.
