I wish Coach Meyer the best in his new assignment. I wish all the haters best of luck in finding a job paying what the coach is making. The athletic department at the OSU is self supporting, no state fund :supz: ing is used to pay the coaching salaries

And I don't even want to get into the media reaction... especially the gaggle of blogger-types.

Except "home" for Meyer should be Cincinnati if I'm not mistaken. If every place he coached is "home" he's got a lot of homes- my "collegiate home" is where I attended.
Actually, Channel 11 said he was born in Toledo! Grew up in Astabula.

Referring to his "collegiate" home- he played at Cinci. I know he has an "out" clause" in his OSU contract for his hometown university, should Toledo ever come calling, though.

My aunt still lives in Gainesville and my uncle was the Dean of Housing at UF before he passed away about 5 years ago. She sent me this email:

Hi Mike,

Well, we are rid of Urban. Guess he doesn't love Gainesville any more. Hope OSU loves him. They deserve him. He bailed when he realized the Gators were in a rebuilding mode and his recruitment was lousy.

She knows what she's talking about as she stays in close contact with some of the important folks at the U of F. I thought that email was very interesting.

I don't know Freak, there is a lot of talent on that Florida team, they are just not getting it done when they get to campus. The 2008-2010 classes were on par with Alabama and LSU.

The 2010 season made it apparent that he has to have a great QB to have a great team. He has fell into good situations everywhere he has went and Braxton Miller looks to be more of the same. Still at some point there is going to be a learning curve to these Tebow and Cam Newton type players.

interesting that his osu Contract is written so that the longer he stays, the more he can earn.
Seems like they had something in mind when writing that up (job jumper)?

"Those payments will be $450,000 if Meyer is still the Buckeyes’ coach on Jan. 31, 2014, $750,000 two years after that and $1.2 million when his contract ends Jan. 31, 2018. Ohio State officials didn’t go into detail about the retention payments, but they obviously are there to give Meyer pause about leaving OSU for another job or walking away from coaching like he did at the University of Florida a year ago."

Here's his (& Shelly's) deal -
http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/osu ... ntract.pdf

Wait till you see the new prices to pay for this contract (IE concessions, Coke's, Ticket Prices, parking, etc, etc, etc.)

I'm guessing a call to a few boosters took care of the contract.

I like that he took some some what direct shots at the ethics of the SEC....

It'd be great if he'd steer a few of those *** type kids that may not be of interest to OSU our way to keep them from filtering down to places like Indiana r Purdue....

He was right in the middle of a lot of it. Most people consider him to be the "source" when all that Cam Newton news broke last November.

Yeah, it ain't like the Gator cupboard is bare. But my Aunt follows the Gators pretty closely so I was taking her word. At any rate, I hope Florida rips the blackeyes again...
