If you would just say that and not insist that everyone who isn't standing the whole game isn't a fan...we'd be in 100% agreement...and I think evryone else here would agree too.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

When do they teach grammar and punctuation at Kenwood Elementary school. Surely you have learned that by now. Lol

Please understand when the coaches wave their arms they want the volume of the noise to go up. Sometime I think it's toooo quiet so I start a cheer getting the cheerleaders & other fans to help. Thanks by the way :!: Go on the road.....about 25 of us at Detroit cheered the whole game except for half time & drinks of fluid.
I've already been asked to be quiet.....not going to happen....guess somebody needs ear plugs or seats outside the arena or wait a friend said I could be heard out there.
Come to the game, do what you do the best you can, positively. 8-) Some people are more brainy at games than others. They will continue to do it their way no matter how any one person feels. Everybody fills a role in this. Just enjoy!!!!
OK so I'm in trouble for being up at this hour. ;) ](*,)

Maybe they are a fan of the opponent and came to support the bad guys instead.

Maybe instead of standing up and screaming, they sat on their rear-end and wrote a check for $10,000 out to the program (I can think of at least one couple that did this for WBB) to cover tuition for a player.

+1000

Both this post and the one by Mr. Brain are so correct. While sometimes, I agree, maybe more people should be on their feet - standing is in NO way the sole indication of one's support for the program. Bowling Green has an amazing women's basketball fan base - and people show it with monetary donations, wearing orange, following their favorite players' stats, purchasing season tickets, posting on message boards, going to away games, and listening on the radio, to list just a few. I still follow Lauren Prochaska's games with LKS Siemens in Poland. My friends think it's obnoxious how I know each player's free-throw percentage. But hey, that's how I choose to follow my team.

While standing at games is fun, and should be encouraged, please don't belittle those who choose to show their devotion in other ways.

God, road games are fun. Especially for WBB! I've been to every MAC school except NIU, Buffalo, and OU (which I will be doing this season now that I've moved to SE Ohio), and I've been to UM, MSU, Miami, OSU, and Wisconsin for hockey. NOTHING beats walking out of a road game after a Falcon victory. Especially Pitt in football

That is my all time favorite road win I attended, with Minnesota the year before right behind it

Yes we did. And after yelling my ass off I didn't have much of one left to sit on, but had to to conserve my energy for yelling. Plus, I may stand up to cheer a play after it's executed, but tend not to stand all the time so that the people behind me can see. And please don't tell me that they should all be standing up, too. Some of us can (and do) make plenty of noise while seated. Do you really think the team while on the floor is noticing whether you cheer standing up or sitting down?

If standing and making a lot of noise isn't a natural reaction, it's rather pointless. If not pointless, it's a total pretense. Stand and cheer because some one else thinks you should? Stand and cheer because it's someone else's measure of how you stack up as a fan? Doing it for those reasons is as much BS as someone thinking you should do it if you don't feel it.

Believe it or not, many people go to the games to watch it, and by buying a ticket and being there they are already showing support. But what do I know? When I go to concerts I like to watch the guitarists' and keyboard players' fingers, not to go into some crazed frenzy. Y'see, I'm not only a butt sitter, I'm a fence sitter, and can understand other people's points of view. While I may point out [aka complain] about certain Administrative decisions (like the fact that there are children's ticket prices and general general admission seating at other schools we visit or that they might sell more adult tickets if the accompanying adult didn't have to pay full price for their children), I will not condemn the fans who are not JUST LIKE ME.

And, while I don't go to the games to support "the bad guys," am I a bad fan for quietly appreciating the athleticism or playing abilities demonstrated in a good play well executed by the opposing team?

... stepping down off the soapbox now ...

BTW, road games are fun, too, when BG fans outnumber the home team fans. I also appreciate Sue's starting the cheers and chants. I don't see much sense in people telling her to be quiet (as though she's disturbing their concentration). For that matter, I can't imagine anyone telling her to sit down, either, because she's about as tall standing up as she is sitting down.
