Blizzard!!! Blizzard!!! We're all going to die!!!

Post by Flipper »

It might snow a lot on Saturday. I hope Stan Joplin remembered to put the Blizzak tires on the bus. We'd hate to see the Rockettes get stuck on I-75.

On second thought...I'd like to see that..

One of my favorite games of all time was one against that team after a huge and fast snow storm that shut the area down for three days. I proudly drove my then new 1998 Explorer through the crud. To his credit, the voice of that schools radio station fought with their people in Toledo to get the game on the air. I was chatting with our former radio voice as he was chatting on a cell phone. They weren't going to put the game on because the rest of the radio types hadn't been able, or weren't willing to drive to BG. He said "The teams here, the games going to happen anyway, give a phone line and I'll call the game on." They did, he did. As annoying as his signature line is, I had to give him credit for doing more for that school than it had earned from him at that point.

There might have been a few hundred folks that managed to show up, and it was ten times worse out by the time we got out. But we won, and it was fun eating at frickers and watching the world end with the hardy types that turned out.

It took me almost 2 hours to get back to Elmore after that game. As with every game I've ever seen in Anderson Arena though, it was worth it!!

I sure hope everyone that has a ticket does come to this game, blizzard or not. If a blizzard caused only a couple hundred to show up, I'd go on a rampage!

One time back in 78 (not the blizzard, though) there was a really big snowstorm and we were playing Miami. After the game, Jim Krone (PA) got on the mike and announced that he was going to give road information. I swear to god, Anderson Arena was never so quiet. Bascially, everything was closed. I believe the Miami team slept in the jail (I'm not making that up).

If there's a blizzard, than at least your going to have a ton of students there.

No No No!

That's where the Toledo football team spends every night when they report back after work release.

Yeah...Pam and I will be there for the nightcap. We have an evil SUV that can plow through just about anything...like a Honda, for example

Man, I remember that game. I wasn't there, I was in Europe, and was frantically searching the bottom scroll on CNN International in the Amsterdam airport. For some reason they actually put it on there, like the rest of the world really gives a rats a$$. When I saw it I jumped around like an idiot, embarressing my country before Bush could (it's a damn joke, don't take it personally).
Anyway, when my flight got into Detroit we sat on the runway for 8 hours. We were 1 of 3 flights to come in that day and there were no terminals open and no pilots to move the planes from the terminals. You never really appreciate open space until you are stuck in an 85 degree plane with a strong stench of fuel in the stale air, all the while being forced to watch Mr. Bean over and over and over and over and over and over again. And a kid puked in the isle. Smelled bad. Never fly Northwest. Go Falcons.

I beg to differ. Northwest is the best airline that I have flown hands down and I have flown on quite a few different airlines. I've been on the Detroit-Amsterdam route a few times. Just because a kid threw up in the aisle and it smelled bad, you blame the airline!!!

I've never had a priblem with Northwest...I do recall the runway incident ialone is referring to though. That episode actually led to lawsuits against Northwest. There's no way I could have sat on a runway in an airliner for 8 hours. I would have gone postal.

Delta is the worst I've ever flown.

Maybe it was the sitting on the runway for 8 hours that did it........and it was actually KLM, but they are owned by Northwest.

Right on Ed!! The Freaks are heading to Huron tonight and then on to BG tomorrow. We have 4 wheel drive on the Escape and brand new tires on the front!

Flip,
Mrs Freak was saying how a bad snow storm was heading this way and asked if we were still gonna go.
I started laughing remembering your comment about how we're gonna die!!

Be loud guys! I'm going to Detroit for the auto show regardless of the weather. If the game wasn't sold out, perhaps I'd cancel and just go to the game, but since I made plans and missed out on the game there is no way in hell I'm just sitting at home!
