Talk about the Buckeyes the Wolverines the Hilltoppers the Ducks the Beavers the Chanticleers... or anyone else who isn't BG or an opponent in this forum.
I rarely watch basketball, but couldn't miss all of the news and twitter comments on the brawl that happened at the end of the Cincy/Xavier game. Being the news junkie I am, I did a little searching on it to see what all the fuss was about. As someone posted, it is amazing that Xavier let those two players speak after the game. I watched both press conferences and was VERY impressed with Mick Cronin's post game comments.
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second." ~~USCHO Poster "BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got." ~~USCHO Poster, AFTER Tech beat us #NeverGiveUp

I'm a HUGE UC fan, I have red and black in my blood. That ... was ... embarrassing. However ... Cronin's comments were dead on. Dead on. I would hate to be a player in that locker room ... or be anywhere near players in that locker room.

Agree 100% with both of you! You're right Freak, nothing but punks. UX should be embarassed by those idiots. And in total contrast, Cronin's comments were absolutely awesome! Exactly what a coach of character should say after that brawl. Any UC fan should be proud of having him in charge of their team!!! Really stupid crap happens in all sports and how the coach and administration reacts and handles it says volumes about the kind program they have. I'd take this kind of guy any day of the week!

Cronin said all the right things, his actions proved otherwise. Biggest suspensions were six games. Their star player and chief thug will miss one conference game, as long as he apologizes and picks up some trash on the highway.

I agree, and IMO there are four who deserve that, two from each squad. From UC Gates and whoever the kid was from the bench who was stomping on Freese (the guy Gates punched) once he was on the ground. From X Lyons and whoever it was who shoved the UC player, which started the brawl

Well that was pretty disppointing....thought there was at least one big school coach who was doing it right....

This is why I love hockey. Pound the crap out of each other on the ice, shake hands and catch up on old times after the game. There is no crying. No "public apologies" for letting your emotions out during the game. Heck, even players who fight off the ice (Kevin Lune) stand and watch the rest of the game with the player they fought.
If I remember correctly, Xavier has some pretty tough admissions standards. If the way those two "men" talked during the post-game press conference is any indication on their performance in Language Arts classes, how did they get into Xavier in the first place?
Please do not turn this into a race thing. There are just as many dumb white people that talk like thugs.

If you have an exceptional talent for something specific that will benefit the university, an exception to the admissions standards can be requested and granted.
Why did Urban Meyer pass up his dream job of Notre Dame? They would not relax their admissions requirements for student-athletes. No way he could have brought in one of his "I have an automatic rifle in the trunk of my car" players like he could at Florida. Will he have the same problem at OSU? They'll admit every recruit he brings them (whether or not they'll be eligible to play is a separate matter).

Of which he really won't care, since by the time the NCAA catches up to them, he'll have his millions of dollars, his ego boost, probably a national championship or two, will have beaten Michigan, then will play the noble soldier who rides off on his white horse to save his family, leaving an underqualified assistant to take over and get reamed by the adoring masses before calling him noble and amazing when the next savior arrives on the sidelines.

Oh they will be "eligible"...(it does not look like there is a wink emoticon, but imagine him here)
