C/D some officials have it out for BG and Coach Miller
Confirm for me.... i have seen too many times to count! For example...The Jacksonville game within the first 5 or 10 mins of the game the head official gives Curt a technical without issuing a warning! 5 technicals in 3 Years! that's a little much don't you think?! But wait aren't officials suppose to be fair and unbiased?

Re: C/D some officials have it out for BG and Coach Miller
I have no idea how many technicals Coach Miller has received in the last 3 years. As for the one during the Jacksonville game, much like everyone I can recall him receiving, he had a purpose behind it. The technical was assessed right after Alexis had picked up her second foul, and she was getting frustrated because every time she touched the ball, she had 3 or 4 players collapsing around her, and probably felt she was not getting the calls.
I think Coach Miller was trying to do a couple of things: protect Alexis and get the officials to talk to him (and he finally did get one to let him plead his case).
I think he knew he would get T'd up on Sunday, and he was willing to so that he could protect his player.

Because he whines like a spoiled 8 year old brat over every no call, "bad call," or call against his own team.

I'll take acting like a spoiled 8 year old brat if it means another new banner in the rafters every year

Dustin, by rule there does not have to be a warning. If the official in his/her judgment feels a technical is warranted, he/she can give one at any time if the situation warrants it.
That being said, in my 7 years as a basketball referee, I have never given a technical to a player or coach; however, I have given many warnings. Unless the coach/player does something very egregious, I'm not one to give a T right off the bat. Some officials aren't as forgiving. I can't speak for the official who gave the T, but if in his judgment it was warranted, then it's his call.
Just explaining this from my point of view as a basketball referee.
I obviously bleed orange and brown and support this program and university to the best of my ability. GO FALCONS!

Obviously you aren't a Falcon Fan....but 5 technicals in 3 Years? that's litlle excessive don't you think and Curt doesn't whine about every call!Rocket_Fanatic wrote:Because he whines like a spoiled 8 year old brat over every no call, "bad call," or call against his own team.
even if he did whine about every call it is well worth it because of the new banner we have hanging in the rafters each year!

I've seen a lot of Division 1 basketball (women's) and know several division 1 referees. The consensus from them and my own observations is that Miller is one of the biggest whiners in the MAC and Big Ten... The coach from CMU is also high on the list.

Eh, I don't care. I've seen plenty of coaches over the years work the officials. The guy simply wins almost all the time....and I love the fact he's been our HC for a decade. Any team in America would want him as a HC.Rocket_Fanatic wrote:I've seen a lot of Division 1 basketball (women's) and know several division 1 referees. You never know...how much longer is Summit gonna coach at the real UT? Geno will probably be at UConn for life. You're just jealous that Coach Miller passed Cueball Ehlen on the all time win list for MAC coaches and did it in 3 fewer seasons.h2oville rocket wrote:Falconfreak90 wrote:Eh, I don't care.
