Then why are you here? If you don't care what we think about your opinions, wouldn't you be better served by keeping them to yourself?

Hmmmmm. Point a finger and there are 3 pointing back at you. And who are YOU to judge what people think (or don't think) of the Stroh Center policies? Further, who are you to judge what people think of what people think of the Stroh Center?DustinXtreme wrote:Who are any of you to judge what people think of the stroh center policies?!
Clearly you DO care, or you wouldn't respond so passionately. If you didn't care you wouldn't respond with the flipped finger smilie, catchy slogans, or a pretense of not caring. If you didn't care you wouldn't respond at all.DustinXtreme wrote: ... really i don't care what anybody thinks!
PROVE you don't care what anybody thinks by not answering this.
Prove that you DO care what anybody thinks by responding, preferably with a childish retort which you may believe resolves the issue.
I double dog dare you to NOT respond to me or anyone else in this post.

Isn't a double-dog-dare prior to issuing a dog-dare a breach of etiquette?
It could be that things are different on the internets than on the playground, but soon people will jump directly to triple-dog-dare, and then what? It's armageddon.

Flick: Are you kidding? Stick my tongue to that stupid pole? That's dumb!
Schwartz: That's 'cause you know it'll stick!
Flick: You're full of it!
Schwartz: Oh yeah?
Flick: Yeah!
Schwartz: Well I double-DOG-dare ya!
Ralphie as Adult: [narrating] NOW it was serious. A double-dog-dare. What else was there but a "triple dare you"? And then, the coup de grace of all dares, the sinister triple-dog-dare.
Schwartz: I TRIPLE-dog-dare ya!
Ralphie as Adult: [narrating] Schwartz created a slight breach of etiquette by skipping the triple dare and going right for the throat!

When I was growing up in BG, we would jam Anderson to watch BB. Why? Well, back then (1965-1972) if you won the MAC an automatic berth was granted, like now,to the field of 23 teams (not like now) competing for the NCAA title. So you win the league, get hot, win a few games you were in the finals. Kids on campus REALLY thought BG had a chance and the did. Hundreds of students would come to the games and go NUTS. Anderson record attn. something like 6000 for a game with Miami during that period. MAC record was BG at OHIO and about 15000 fans during that same period. I recall in '67 Toledo was 11th or 12th in the country. Believe it or not the MAC was a damn good basketball league and well thought of throughout the country. Also, blacks didn't often want to play at southern universities due to fear so our league would get some super players that way.
Then, the powers to be brought hockey onto the scene. And now, looking back basketball is on life support, hockey isn't much fun anymore and we can't beat Kent in a football game. It seems the runs are over and not much on the horizon. What is the answer?

I think if it were me I'd drop all sports to DII or drop them altogether...just keeping Basketball at D1. We have a premiere hoops facility and have recently added some big endowments. I'd like to see us focus on that one sport and do it well rather than do all of our sports half assed.zete wrote:It seems the runs are over and not much on the horizon. What is the answer?

Basketball, in general, sucks. I don't enjoy watching it at all. Just because it's cheap and everybody else can put together a basketball team doesn't mean we should only do that. Heck, Owens has a basketball team.hammb wrote:I think if it were me I'd drop all sports to DII or drop them altogether...just keeping Basketball at D1. ROLL ALONG!!!
Re: i wonder why we don't draw more fans?
Xavier has a concentration in basketball and they are better year in and out than all the Ohio MAC teams.

Re: i wonder why we don't draw more fans?
Xavier is also a D1 program in the City of Cincinnati, a city whose love of College Basketball is second only to their love of Reds baseball. In other words, there is a strong built-in fan base that will attend games, buy merchandise etc. Last time I really looked, Bowling Green did not have that same base, neither does the Greater Toledo area, if you wanted to bill us as one of two programs in the area.zete wrote:Xavier has a concentration in basketball and they are better year in and out than all the Ohio MAC teams.
Personally, I don't see cutting other sports to focus on one as a good solution to the fact that many of our programs are in down cycles. (Admittedly, some longer than others.)
