Mount Union Vs Wisconsin-Whitewater

Post by Falconfreak90 »

Yeah, this probably should be in the other schools forum but I thought I'd post it here...

Mt Union is playing in their 16th Stagg Bowl for the Div 3 title. They've won 10 titles and Larry Kehres is in his 26th year in Alliance with an overall record of 317-23-3.  Wisconsin-Whitewater Coach Lance Leipold is in his 5th year with the Warhawks and has a record of 71-3.  UWW last lost a game in the 2008 Stagg Bowl to Mt Union and has won 44 games in a row.

These two teams have met six straight times in the Stagg Bowl, each team winning 3 titles. Both teams are 14-0 coming into the game...simply amazing! And both teams are purple and black.

Game starts at 7pm on ESPN2 from Salem, Va. Should be another great game!

I was watching but since have picked up the cavs preseason game.

I don't know how this season will play out.. I don't know enough about NBA basketball, but I will say Kyrie Irving looks pretty slick for such a raw new talent. I know its just preseason too...

Mt. U has a bit of their reputation being rivaled by this Wisconsin team the past few years. Might have to flip back over in a bit to catch some of it..

Mt Union was held scoreless for 3 quarters....I wonder when the last time that happened! WW won a nailbiter, 13-10, for their 3rd Div 3 title in a row. Good to hear about Irving...sure it's preseason but that's a good sign.

Tomorrow is the Div 2 title game with Wayne State facing Pittsburg State....love these games. Who would have thought playoffs would actually work and settle the title ON THE FIELD! LOL!

This begs an interesting question, why is there longevity in coaching at the lower NCAA levels, but in D1 we assume that anyone taking the BG job will merely be using it as a stepping stone to bigger things?

Why isn't it reasonable to expect to find someone who loves coaching and realizes that $200K+ to live in BG is pretty nice and would be inclined to stay for a long time? Is it the pressure, the unrealistic expectations, or what?

LB,
We'll see if your theory holds true....does the Wayne St. guy take the Akron job, for obviously a lot more money, or does he stay in Mich.? :-k

May not be the fairest test...Winters has soent almost 20 years at Akron as a player and assistant and eight at WSU as the HC. Akron is "home"...can't fault the man if he decides to go home.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

HE TURNED DOWN AKRON TO STAY AT WAYNE STATE. GOOD FOR HIM.
