We could sell that many to Zimbabwe! ;)

The bowl game is at 4:30pm on a Wednesday. It's no wonder they're having issues. Not everybody has the week between Christmas and New Years off work.

Wish that were true.

The 2008-09 team won the regular season MAC title. It didn't equate to more butts in the seat during the season or the season after.
I was thinking exactly that when I read transfer's post.

The truth is that we need to win AND play exciting basketball. The simple truth is that the last 3-4 years of Dakich and the first few years of Orr were exemplified by HORRIFICALLY BORING basketball. Both coaches preach defense first and foremost (which is flat out NOT fun to watch). On top of that Dakich clearly didn't care to recruit athletes, and that carried over to Orr's early years as well.

The result was a roster full of scrappy hard nosed players that couldn't break anyone down off the dribble, couldn't jump, and couldn't pass.

Orr has done a good job bringing in athletes, but still we clearly value defense over offense.

Finally last year, and now this year, the team is exciting to watch. I think if they start winning with this more exciting type of athlete/player, we'll start getting fans in the seats.

Hence, the reason I said "MAC Tournament title" and not "MAC title." It's been over 40 years since we've made the NCAA Tournament for crying out loud. We couldn't even get there with Antonio Daniels and Anthony Stacey on the same team with Jim Larranaga as our head coach. We also couldn't get it done while hosting the MAC Tournament in Anderson Arena playing in the finals against a team we had swept in the regular season, nor when we were the #1 seed. Until we win the damn tournament, it's not going to help change how people look at our program. I mean 1968? And who the he'll knows when we'll get back. I'd be willing to bet some of us could actually go our entire lifetime without seeing BG in the NCAA Tournament. Not win a game in it, just simply play in it. We've seen all these other MAC East teams from Ohio playing in it such as Ohio, Miami, Kent State and Akron, but no BG.

People did not have any trouble following McLeod, Pardon and Matela without a MAC title.

Totally agree about the exciting basketball part.....however, the lack of fans comes from community people having a disconnect from BGSU Athletics. Getting rid of GC would be a great first step in getting butts in the seats.

But a MAC East title (which would be regular season) is more important than a regular season title?

OK, so we won the MAC East that year and it did not equate into more butts in the seat that year (as an exciting season was going down) or the following year.

But was GC charged with the mission of bringing in more money or getting butts in the seats? And if both, then in what order?
Never mind the math: 1000 x $14 = 1400 x $10 ... not that it's a guaranteed trade off.

Here's a deal: we could get a group of 100 of us together, cough up 10 bucks each, buy the tickets for $400 and still donate the other $600 to the team because we love them and are faithful loyal fans. AND we could move around in our own section, and sit in different smaller groups as the mood strikes us.

2011-12 BGSU Men’s Basketball Single-Game Ticket Prices
Anderson Club* $25
Chairback Reserved* $14
Group of 20-49** $8
Group of 50-99** $6
Group of 100+ ** $4
*Minimum Falcon Club membership required to purchase seats in Anderson Club (Sections 115A-115C) and Chairback Reserved seating (Section 103)
**Group rates only available in advance

Speaking as a community person (and an alum), Greg Christopher has absolutely no impact on my decision to attend a game or not. Stop blaming him.

I have season tickets to three sports myself, but I can tell you that quite a few other people I know, do not attend games because of GC or at least minimize the number they attend, and many of these are past season ticket holders. There are also some, that bought basketball season tickets this year, only becasue of the Stroh, hoping he will be gone soon.

Even if those people number two dozen....they're a drop in the bucket when you consider the size of the arena. ( and don't give me this "they told two friends and they told two friends" nonsense )There aren't enough people within the community interested in BGSU athletics for the personal (or is it personnel) squabbles within the athletic department to have a noticeable impact. That is the real issue...nobody cares. The don't care enough to know who the AD is..they don't know enough to care if he's a dick or not.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

You really disappoint me Bubba. After all of this time, you still do not seem to understand - REAL FANS DON'T SIT!
