I say no freshmen or sophomore should be allowed to have a car or an X-Box. They need to get out of the residence halls.BGorDeath wrote:How much should the marketing department have to do? My gawd, if you are a student at BG and read the school newspaper (which I am sure the majority do), you know that the basketball team is doing pretty well this year. You also know that Turdledo is BG's main rival. At some point, the student body needs to take it upon themselves to seek out something like tickets to a huge basketball game without it having to be marketed directly to them. How about some school spirit? Take some initiative.

I just got off the phone with the ticket office. I talked to Scott and begged for tickets. He said all he had left were student tickets and he was sure they would be all gone. I asked if they were going to sell any student tickets that were not picked up. He said NO he was sure they would all go and that maybe someone would be selling tickets out front the day of the game. I need tickets..... If anyone can help let me know
Thanks

It was pointed out in an earlier post in this thread that they should sell the ticket allotment that the students do not pick up. That's what a lot of schools do that experience sellouts often. They give the students up until a certain date and time to pick their tickets up. If there are any remaining after that date, they put the unused student allotment tickets up for sale to the general public. I think it's a great idea. It sure as heck beats having empty seats, because if the students don't want to go, there are other people that would - and they'll actually pay to get in and while show up.

I have an issue with the number of tickets they a. hold for students and b. keep for students till the game.
I first came into contact with this problem during the 2003 NIU gameday football game. I was not a graduate student at the time and needed to get a ticket. I nearly missed that game because it was sold out and they held 4k or some obscene number for students. They needed a ticket pick up for that one. ANyone who was at that game knows the student section was not Packed.
Also, if they are going to the ticket pick up for the students they need to modify it. I have no problem with holding 1400 tickets for the students. The entire campus, nearly 20k students pays their fees to go to events like this, the event is for them, remember. I do have a problem though if there are extra tickets laying around that won't get picked up by tip off. Why not put a close on the student ticket pick up? It started Tuesday at 9am, why not end it on Thursday at 5pm? Alows a couple of days and a full business day for leftover tickets to be resold. . . .
Just my quick rant thoughts.

They don't. I called to get my tickets for the game when it is at their sh**hole and they at first thought I was asking for this Saturday's game and they said they were all out.transfer2BGSU wrote:Have you tried calling Owens Community College - Bancroft and seeing if they've sold all of their tickets yet?
Just a thought....
Oh, I ordered through UT because the BG allotment of tickets are in the crappiest section of their sh**hole.

They do that here at UK, except it is set up so that faculty and staff get first dibs since tickets are so hard to come by. thought there are hardly any games that this happens, unless its christmas or were playing moorehead st.BGSU33 wrote:It was pointed out in an earlier post in this thread that they should sell the ticket allotment that the students do not pick up. Yes, you are right about that at UK, my fiancee is a big UK fan (her parents both went there too) and she wanted to see a game in Rupp Arena a couple years ago. I called the UK ticket office and they told me about the tickets being handled in this same way. The day the allotment tickets went on sale, I bought two and we went to the Kentucky/Notre Dame game. It was a lot of fun.

So I did some research on this one and here is what I found out. If 4000 seats were held back for the NIU game that is close to 14% of the capacity of Doyt Perry Stadium. That means the athletic department held space for about 20% of the student body. Thats not a whole lot. In Anderson Arena here is the breakdown. 1400 seats is almost 30% of the listed arena capacity. But that only allows 7% of the student body in to see the game. I don't know how other schools doll out their student tickets but we pay for ours. Even though most studends don't know it. Just over 50% of the general each student pays goes to intercollegiate athletics. As long as this is the practice then student tickets should not be sold until the doors open for any given game. Here again, marketing needs to get the word out about the games and show some enthusiasm abou the events.I have an issue with the number of tickets they a. hold for students and b. keep for students till the game.

And today I go looking for my ticket, and I've lost it. So unless I find it before Saturday, I can't go. They honestly should have just did a first come first serve at the game for students.

Speaking of which, anyone selling a general admission ticket?

I'm a student. and even though I've got my ticket already, I haven't seen squat about the game outside this site and the paper. There are a few Sic Sic signs around, but nearly as many as there should be. I've done my best to try and get other guys excited about the game, but at the same time, there needs to be more exposure for the students. I can guarantee there are a lot of people who DON'T know about the game. In other words, its not just the stupidity of students, which is a large factor I realize, but at the same time, the lack of advertising and information about the game doesn't help either.
