MAC Offices do not care because they do not see a conflict.

The CCHA does not care because they do not see a conflict.

The only ones that see a conflict are those that want to support both teams. This is nothing new. We have had this same conflict other times in recent years. In fact, we will have a similar conflict in a few weeks when Men's Basketball plays Toledo and Gymnastics has a meet against Northern Illinois (February 11 - both events scheduled for 4:00 PM).

Simply brilliant.....biggest MAC opponent to come to BG since Kent State was ranked a few years ago and we get a double whammy. I understand we can't control the MAC schedule, which is why I always prefer to open MAC play on the road so we are at the advantage instead of disadvantage like this, but moving the basketball game time for TV without changing the start time of hockey or being able to avoid the head - to- head game with hockey is awful. I planned to come to BG to see both that day way back when the schedule was released.
I would bet there are less than 100 people that would go to both games. It simply doesn't make that big of a difference.
Whether it affects 10 or 1,000 people, it "matters" to those who planned on doing both like we all did. When I was at the hotel lobby after the Howard game, I overheard the Canisius hockey team (they stayed in the same hotel) talking about how strange it was for us to be playing basketball and hockey head-to-head like that. And that was Canisius and Howard (both non-conference), now we're doing it with Ohio State and Ohio - arguably the biggest home conference games for each program this year.
GO BG!!!

It isn't like we have been drawing great crowds when there isn't a conflict.

Im starting to see why OHIO U draws so well for basketball. They don't have all the nonsense to put up with...Plus when they open their daily newspapers they don't have to search and search and sort through all of the Buckeye & Wolverine crap to find something on their Division 1 team, the Bobcats. I swear sometimes I open the Toledo Blade and it is like I am looking at the sports page of the Columbus Dispatch.

Ironic that you would mention this today when there are two BG headlines above the fold on the Sports section today.

Are you serious? I've been listening to UT fans bitch about the Blade focusing on BG for 30 years...I even refer to it as "The BG paper" to get under their skin. The Blade has done a good enough job that i can tell you had the beat the last 10 or so years..under Urban it was Matt Markey, then we had Maureen Futon, Ryan Autello and John Wagner.

This does happen and it's all about marketing. The people at the Blade know they can sell newspapers in Toledo, but have to "feature" BG in order to sell papers in BG. Likewise, if the BG Sentinel didn't often "Feature" Perrysburg HS athletics (as opposed to BGHS), they wouldn't sell a single paper north of 582.

As for tonight's game... FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, GUARD THE THREE-POINT LINE, FALCONS!!!!! BEAT OU!!!

Great point... and to add unnecessary gasoline to this fire, BGHS boys basketball team is also home tonight at 7:30. They share a very large portion of their regularly attending fans with the Falcons men's team. Figures, we get a TV game against a very high quality opponent and we walk into this perfect storm.

Watching Kraus and Crawford at the guards at the same time is down right painful. I can't believe we can't recruit legitament guards to a D1 prorgam. Common man!

I know Scott Thomas isn't a flashy superstar by any means, but man I would hate to think of the last few years without him. Just a good, solid, all-around basketball player.
