The first time they moved us to the West it only affected BG, the second time they moved us back to the East it only affected BG, and this time moving BG back to the West again is only affecting BG. This is only "news" to BG, because the rest of the MAC East and MAC West schools are unchanged, again. I think it would have been interesting if they mixed the divisions up (ex: North & South), and I would have been happy to see UMass moved to the West and that we stayed put, but this move just flat out pisses me off.

Will be interesting to see what this does for the date of the BG-UT game. Now that it couldn't be replayed a week later in the MACC, will they move it back to Thanksgiving, or stick with the great response they had in mid-October?

Re: Back to the West We Go
The only thing that really upsets me is that we are West for football and East for everything else. None of the other conferences with football divisions use those divisions for any of their other sports anymore (SEC did for hoops for a long time but recently dropped it). Had they just dropped divisions for all the other sports I wouldn't have had an issue with today's announcement

Might we be going to a "round robin" schedule in the other sports?

Re: Back to the West We Go
I was initially pissed about this because we won't be making the biennial trip to Buffalo, but then I thought about it and the last two game at Buffalo were on Tuesday night and the day after T'giving when I was in Ohio.
So maybe I'm not that pissed about it.
But I also liked to go to see the Kent or Akron game when visiting my Mom in Ohio. Now, that becomes a rare event.
So maybe I am pissed about it.
Bottom line is if I want to see BG football live, it's become much more of a hassle and much more expensive.

I respect what you are saying LB. But for every person like you, there is one in Michigan who just gained a bunch of opportunities to see BG a lot closer to home and for a lot less cost. I understand why you'd be upset, but in the bigger picture, this just washes out I think.Lord_Byron wrote:I was initially pissed about this because we won't be making the biennial trip to Buffalo, but then I thought about it and the last two game at Buffalo were on Tuesday night and the day after T'giving when I was in Ohio.

Re: Back to the West We Go
Remember all of the discussion over who our primary rival really was - Miami or Toledo? Well, it looks like the MAC decided that one for us.

FWIW, I agree with Clawson's thoughts on the subject:
"Other than changing a few signs in the locker room, I don't think this changes much," Clawson said. "It doesn't change our objectives. We still play eight MAC games and we still play our rivalry game [against Toledo]. I think this will have minimal impact on BG football."

I don't care who we play or what division were in. Just play hard, entertain the fans and win some freakin games. Maybe put a few consecutive good seasons together. Besides when we win in our new better division next year there won't he much dispute over who the champs are. I believe BG needs to be in the stronger division in everything.

Re: Back to the West We Go
We're not going to have all Saturday games, I think that's for sure.
What Clawson said was right. If we're the best team in the MAC, who cares what division we are in? If we aren't the best team in the MAC, who cares what division we are in?

Re: Back to the West We Go
I'm about 8 months behind on this. Why would the MAC allow a brand-new FBS team to join the conference for only football? What's so special about a program that has never done anything at the FBS level that you would accept it without the other sports? This seems ten times more pathetic than the Temple situation.

Don't know if anyone noticed it or not, but UT's "crossover" games are....are you ready?.... Buffalo and ...AKRON!! Nothing like evening out the schedules for teams, right?

Let's be greatful our conference doesn't look like the Big East. I would love to make what those travel budgets will be.
