I have to admit that it was very tempting not to respond to the initial post. I was thinking how cool it would be if no one answered any of his ranting, self serving posts. Picture this: a little man to be shouting in the middle of the Doyt, and the camera zooms slowly back to reveal that there's no one in the stadium. The scene dissolves into an areal shot, also pulling back, revealing that there's no one in town, on I-75, etc. He's shouting but no one's there to listen - sort of on the order of the old Monkees song, "Zor and Zam".

As it turns out, I'm childish and immature, and a big pile of doggy doo like that which might come out of a big. friendly old English Sheep Dog, and which can be avoided because you see it a mile away, unlike my Worthy Opponent who is also childish and immature, but is more like those little ones which come out of a mean little Jack Russel, which by the time you've noticed it you've already stepped on it and squished it into the treads of your shoes.

Once, when I was about 4 years old, I remember getting ready to go outside and my grandmother telling me that I had put my shoes on the wrong feet. I was sure that I was right and she was wrong and I was sure that I knew my left from my right. Throughout the entire day, people kept telling me my shoes were on the wrong feet, and I kept telling them they were wrong. In retrospect, I look at that day and I notice a few things:

1. I didn't change my shoes, because I wanted to prove everyone wrong.
2. Everyone thought that I was an idiot
3. I was an idiot and everyone recognized it but me
4. Failing to acknowledge my faux pas only made me appear a bigger idiot
5. My feet hurt

Remember when you could come to this site and cheer on the falcons and discuss the game without finding this kind of thread? As I sit in the cold light of day with the new morning sun streaming through the window, I sincerely apologize to jg4242 and the like-minded. It has gotten old. I thought the title of this thread alone would have suggested that this was going to be little more than a sideshow to the main event: Falcon basketball.

I was selfishly having fun teasing the the lad, trying to get him to call me names and run himself around in little circles right down the potty, sort of like getting my cat to chase the catnip mouse or little red light and enjoying it in much the same way she enjoys chasing dustybunnies. Maybe it's more like getting my dog to bring the squeaky toy back so I can throw it again so she can bring it back again ... Perhaps it's most like doing something silly with my 3 year old grand daughter to hear her laugh and tell me, "Do it again," even if I don't recall calling he-who-must-not-be-named a preschooler.

By quoting Candide in his signature line, bgbill has reminded me that somewhere above this muck I've been playing in lies plenty of intelligence at this forum. I sincerely thank him for that. With its "intellectual hostility hidden under a thin veil of naïveté" (as it says in Wikipedia), Voltaire's book and the 20th century musical have been a similar source of inspiration over the years.

Somehow I imagined I could be like Cervantes's Dr. Carrasco. Using the Wikipedia explanation here: The Knight of the Mirrors and his attendants bear huge shields with mirrors on them, and as they swing them at Quixote, the glare from the sunlight blinds him. The attacking Knight taunts him, forcing him to see himself as the world sees him - as a fool and a madman. Don Quixote collapses, weeping. The Knight of the Mirrors removes his own helmet - he is really Dr. Carrasco, returned with his latest plan to cure Quixote. Perhaps I should also look in the mirror.

While I'm not quite yet prepared to make a Nixon-esque proclamation such as "You won't have Bubba Bo Bob Brain to kick around anymore," to my little buddy, deep down I still think it would be cool, as I indicated above, if next time he made such a grandiose statement as was started in this thread's title and continued in his post, nobody replied.

This whole conversation has taken an odd turn...Doostin used to get raked on here not so much because of his behavoir at the games, but because he insisted that anyone who wasn't equally out there wasn't a "true fan". That, of course, is a ridiculous and untenable position. Now people are on him for the way he acts...I don't think I can agree with that. I've been to a number of games over the years and I have no earthly idea who this kid is. He can't be THAT bad if I haven't noticed him. OK, the whole sign thing is kinda stupid...but that's true of everyone who takes signs to a game...it's just a stupid thing to do. No one reads them and they make you look like a self centered little attention whore. That said...as long as you're not blocking my view or printing something obscene or hurtful on your sign...it really doesn't concern me.
