Frozen Diamond Faceoff

Post by VDub26Falcon »

Anyone heading to Cleveland on Sunday to see the first ever outdoor collegiate game in the state of Ohio? I'll be there and actually am working on a write up/game preview that will post on Friday over at didthetribewinlastnight.com

Had a chance to speak with OSU's head coach, Mark Osiecki and I have to say, he seems like a very nice guy. Shot him an e-mail and he responded immediately and told me to give him a call. Got a few good quotes for the story. Mostly a shameless plug for the blog I write for, but I promise you won't be disappointed with the story!

I'm rooting for the blimp crash. I seriously cannot wait for this fad of playing hockey in baseball and football stadiums to pass. The people attending these games cannot be enjoying the game itself. The crowd is way to far away to generate any kind of atmosphere.

I couldn't agree more. Glad a Falcon is having some sort of success with this game. The Big Chill was fun, but this is overkill.

Go Falcons! Beat Alaska!!!!!!!! (everyone look away when I say this, but, go blue, beat the buckeye(?) out of that school from cbus)

Go Falcon Hockey!!!!

I was thinking the same thing........why would anyone on this board give a hoot about that game (ok, maybe the two 50-50 sellers)!

My brother lives in Broadview Hts and is a UM grad so he and some of my OSU sibs are going...I took a pass to head up to Frankenmuth to hit Splash Village and the brewery. Swimming and beer? Hell yeah!! I would have loved to go last year at the Big House. Maybe it's because I haven't sat through one yet, but I really want to go to one of these games...be it the Winter Classic when it hits Detroit (or Ann Arbor) or a UM/MSU game
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

We will be attending the LOSUr vs SCUM game tonight in Columbus. My Daughter's hockey team gets to skate a quick scrimmage game in between periods as part of her youth team. I will be wearing my new BG Hockey jersey to the game that was given to me by Falcon Fanatic.

Maybe I can see if they will let me sell some 50/50 tickets.

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

As viewed on TV it looks to be around 20,000 and sounds like a large amount of UM fans. I wonder if it will be viewed as worth giving up a home game?
I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.

After a 4-0 loss Friday night, Ohio State just needs to keep it within 2 goals to retain their #2 ranking.

That's where they're at right now after the first, losing 2-0 to the weasels. Updates on twitter, since we have the Packers/Giants football game on and I really don't care about watching the weasels and schmucks....ever.

I dread the day anyone within our Athletic Department thinks it's a good idea to participate in one of these games.

I am really surprised at the way many of you think it would be a bad idea to participate in one of these games. I went to the game, had no rooting interest (wore my Guy LaFleur Nordiques jersey), had a blast and enjoyed the hell out of the atmosphere. I would LOVE to see the day when they make this a weekend event with 3 or 4 games. It's great exposure for the teams playing (25,000+ in attendance) and it's an experience the players will never forget.

I actually got to go on the ice after the game for a contest and the ice quality was really good. They did a great job with this event and I hope that the Falcons get to participate in an event like this in the future.
