Not much to watch. But it will get interesting tomorrow when our new GM will fire our coach. And sometime before the draft we will release Peyton, yeah you heard that correct, we will be releasing Peyton.

Will he be healthy by the March deadline?
They dont think so. So do you gamble and pay him his 28.25 million and hope he is ready or move on. Don't be surprised if Irsay and Co release him and move on. Peyton will not be traded even though that seems like the most logical choice. Irsay would prefer Peyton retire and then come back with a new team or flat out release him. Even if he is healthy I think Peyton has received his last snap with the Colts.

Now to get this thread back in order. Go BG. BEAT THE ROOS

Set up a system similar to the emergency alert system and send out a short text message. If only 1 out of 8 students attend the game that would still more than double our student attendance.
It's worth a shot, but I'm thinking this would just annoy people. I remember the time when whatever teams were doing were literally the only game in town. What did they do on Saturday afternoon? Go out to the game and support their team. This was before cable TV when you might catch a big game on TV but a lot of our sports came only on ABC's Wide World of Sports.

If the students really wanted to come, they'd be there, but there are plenty who just plain have no interest. They'd rather stay home and watch TV, play video games, play the interactive war games, go downtown, - you name it. A lot of those people didn't have good experiences with Athletes in high school, and if you go to most high school football games, a low percentage of the students are even paying attention.

Did someone say "But they get in free!!!"? It's not free; it's prepaid, and I'd stake my reputation (such that it is) that if the students got to vote on their fees, we would have little to no athletics at BGSU (lots of other things, too).

Let's take a quick survey: Hands in the air - how many of you would go to an orchestra concert if you knew Emily Freeman Brown was having one? Those of you who didn't raise your hands - are you more likely to go if you got a text from the university? What about a planetarium show and open viewing through the telescope hosted by Dale Smith? Any takers? Not even if you got a text? The opening of a student art show? A talk by Michael Chrichton? A workshop followed by a concert with Wynton Marsalis? "Something Happened on the Way to the Forum" being performed at the new Wolf Center? A Gospel Choir concert? A talk about World War II by Bill Rock with genuine artifacts? A computer seminar with Charlie Applebaum? A talk by Dave Rice about why you should enroll your student at BGSU? A swim meet, track meet, gymnastics meet, or tennis match for that matter?

I'm not saying it's a bad idea, I'm just thinking that people's tastes are more diverse these days, and while many of you / us might have turned your nose up at any of the above suggestions, there are many students who also turn their nose up about coming to an Athletic event.

That would be the most amazing talk since Jesus showed up after the resurrection. Michael Crichton died in 2008

Ouch! My bad. Thanks for the update. Maybe I should have mentioned another local - Bruce Edwards discussing C. S. Lewis?

A text, e-mail, or even flyers would go a long way towards informing students THAT A GAME EXISTS. That was the biggest problem, IMO. But you can't blame the marketing department. They had to come up with a ENTIRELY new marketing scheme for the Stroh to replace the tarp on AA's doors that said "GAME TONIGHT." Coming up with a marketing plan even comparable to that genius, foolproof idea takes time. We need to be patient, folks.

They have had about 4 years to come up with a plan for the Stroh Center!

You know...as a minimalist...I find "game tonight" to be rather appealing...

I stood at the end of my driveway waiting for the shuttle to pick me up, take me to the game, buy me a popcorn and a drink and brush off my seat for me. Never showed up. This needs to be fixed.
