It was just awful and painful to watch...he was soooo bad. Especially during the stretch where we went from up 10 to up 2 in like a minute and a half or whatever it was. I'll never understand him...he just doesn't know when to slow himself down. I love his energy and all that, but man he hurts the team almost as often as he helps them.Globetrotter wrote:It was as if he read our discussion and agreed with you so he wanted to prove it to me.hammb wrote:And you wonder WHY I bash Crawford, Globe!? C'mon, remember when you were saying he can score and do all these great things!?
Ugh, this game was just brutal to watch him play. He was absolutely THE reason we lost. He almost single-handedly blew our 10 point lead in about 2 minutes.
Like I said, the reason we are mediocre is our guard play is too damn inconsistent. Tonight Clarke played pretty well, Dee Brown was lackluster at best, and Crawford was fu**ing terrible. How that guy can go from brilliant in the 2nd half Saturday to looking like he did tonight I'll never know, but it's always been that way. He shows flashes but he just doesn't put complete games together. I REALLY hope Clarke can start taking his minutes from him.
I like Crawford off the bench as a change of pace guy, but he is not a guy you should be counting on to run your offense. He's a poor shooter and has a horrid assist:turnover ratio for a starting PG. He's good at getting to the basket, but even there's he's limited by his size. His best asset to the team is his energy and quickness, which I still think is best coming off the bench playing as the 3rd guard.

It's not all negative: Cam Black 10 pts, 7 rbs, 1 block. Craig Sealey 7 pts and 5 rbs.
I'd like BG's chances if those two can provide averages along those lines for the rest of the season.

Clarke
Thomas
Sealy
Calhoun
Black
I think that Clarke, Sealy and Black are the future of this program. The rest of the guys Hendo, Orr, Rorie are complete wild cards who I think have low ceilings. I think Clarke, Sealy and Black all have the potential to be all MAC types.
It was as if he read our discussion and agreed with you so he wanted to prove it to me.

Re: Time to end our 7-game home losing streak to Akron!!!
Just a tough, tough game to lose. Especially considering the start we had, holding the lead the entire way, then losing in the last second - to a team we just can't beat at home. I simply hate losing close games, let alone the way we did tonight. I know a loss is a loss, but I would rather lose by 10-15 and know the other team outplayed us than to have a game ripped away at the end like that. Feels like football all over again....

The Hell it wasn't a blown call, the refs where screwing BG over the entire game and they knew it! I just wish for once a game would be called right down the middle!

Re: Time to end our 7-game home losing streak to Akron!!!
The refs didn't cost us the game... we did. Too many turnovers, missed FT's... heck if Cam hits the FT and completes the 3pt play, that shot takes it to OT instead of a 1pt loss. I'm not going to blame that on the officials. Would it have been nice to get that charge call... absolutely but that game never should have been in a position to finish like that... Twice we had comfortable double digit leads to just see them slip away. Truthfully I'm still not convinced that this team knows how to finish a game. We will have flashes of brilliance, but never get a consistent effort.
So blame our team instead of the officials for that L in our record.

Re: Time to end our 7-game home losing streak to Akron!!!
Just made it back to the Cleveland area from the game tonight. Just a few thoughts...
1. Crawford was the fourth or fifth best guard we had tonight...not sure why Orr had him back in the game down the stretch?
2. Didn't know Kraus was hurt, but it did give Sealy, Clarke, Orr and Henderson a chance to get some minutes. They are all better options than Luke at this point.
3. Impressed with Sealy's ability to hit the boards. Didn't realize he was that long and had that kind of game near the basket. Wish Calhoun would be that agressive.
4. Not sure if it was a charge at the end of the game, but what makes it hard to take is that we were getting that call all night. But, the refs swallow their whistles at the end. Frustrating because all you ask them to be is consistent. Hard to tell a kid that's not a foul after you've already called it a half dozen times earlier.
5. I miss Anderson Arena. The old barn had character. The new one is shinny and has all the toys but I hope it can develop character. Maybe if its full and rockin it can get there? Right now at less than half full it does come off as a really nice high school facility. I can see where the OU people were comign from with some of their comments last week. I got the feeling it was one of those courts that they put together in a dome with seats down low at a weird angles in the corners. I hope it grows on me.

I talked to the gray haired ref after some bad calls and it seemed like he was going to call the game right down the middle but I guess I was wrong, and on a side note he got a chuckle out of my signs after I had told him to use his brains but that didn't last long at all!. People wonder why I really get after the officials? Tonights blown call is a good example and ORR looked pissed after the game and the official knew he screwed up!

Talk about getting dominated...just 6-7 years ago, BG led the all time series with Akron, 23-10. It is now tied at 24. The Zips have won 14 of the last 15. Unreal....

Dustin!!!!! By rule, that last play could not have been a charge. His left foot unfortunately was completely inside the restricted arch therefore making it a block or no call. Learn the rules before you blame the refs. Now if you want to dispute the numerous non calls for traveling in the last five minutes I won't disagree with you on those but by rule his ankle was in the restricted area. I am so glad he saw your sign though. I was wondering that my 4 hour drive home.DustinXtreme wrote:The Hell it wasn't a blown call, the refs where screwing BG over the entire game and they knew it! Well, this is the worst performance of JC's career, and this game is probably weighing on him like a grand piano. Hopefully, this was a bottom and might be a turning point where JC stops, reassesses, and decides to change his approach to running point.
JC's mistakes were mental, errors of commission, and he can fix them. We've seen his determination, quickness, and willingness to make things happen. JC hit the shot that sealed the game against Temple and he played excellently at Michigan State. I predict that we'll see a new JC against Kent.

In other words, had you kept quiet and not said anything to the officials, they would have had no reason to look for phantom fouls to call against us throughout the game. Had you not had any signs outing the officials, they would have had no reason for phantom foul calls.
So Crawford isn't to blame. Krauss and his bum ankle aren't to blame. Thomas and Dee Brown aren't to blame. DUSTIN is to blame.

I don't know where you are getting this his left foot was in the restricted area statement from... because after watching the replay from BCSN you can clearly see that Cam is practically standing on the MAC logo near the FT line and not even remotely close to that restricted area. Probably should have been called a charge after watching the replay of the final shot.
