Safety James Sanford....

Post by Flipper »

has verballed to BG. He's a *** guy on Scout. So, of the 16 guys we have 10 of them are rated *** by scout, rivals or ESPN.

Has some offers from Big 10 and Big East, and listed as "soft" verbal. If he sticks it will be a great get, as we need a BIG safety and he is 6'2".

Flip,
Where did you see him listed as a verbal to BG? I looked up Scout, Rivals and ESPN and didn't see him listed anywhere. Know he was supposed to visit with us and UT IIRC awhile ago.

Rivals and scoutingohio.com both say BG. Scoutingohio is an awesome site fir videos, etc...they have him as the #30 kid in Ohio. That's a hell of a get if we keep him.

BTW....for the folks who doubted Brady Hoke, check out how he's doing in Ohio vs what RichRod did.

Thanks guys,
Guess I either missed seeing his name on Rivals OR looked too early today and it wasn't posted... I WAS right on one thing...this is the kid who took visits to the team up north as well as BG.

Sanford's name also appeared in the Dayton Daily News earlier this week as a BG man in their list of Dayton area committed D 1 football players. Sanford is a tall athletic fellow and he certainly could be a good player for us. Also was in the mix at Ohio and you have to beat them too on players like this young man.

It's nice to see he is committed to BG. He had offers from some good schools.

Just wondering/needing further clarification on exactly what the "soft" descriptor indicates in this young man's decision? Did he say to us-----"yeah, I guess I will, that is until something better comes along"? Academics at play? Just wondering - thats all?

SSAlum,
Usually a "soft" verbal means exactly that...I'll come to ...... unless I get a better offer from .... Hate when kids do this, but I don't blame them for looking out for #1. Just hope they don't fall for the "glamour" of a larger school rather than I.D.ing the reason they SHOULD be going to school...an education with a related and useful major.
