Sunday's game against EMU is dollar day

Post by gmartin »

Sunday's game against EMU is dollar day. Tickets, Popcorn, Hot Dogs and Drinks are $1. For those complaining how expensive it is for a family to attend a game this is a great opportunity. Heck, for under $5 a person you could get a ticket to the game, get a hot dog and popcorn and two drinks. Under $20 for family of four.

The weather is supposed to be mid 40s, meaning you could park farther away and even avoid parking fares. The game could very well match the MAC East and MAC West leaders. OSU doesn't play that day. The Steelers and Bengals are finished, in fact the NFL playoffs are later in the day. With $1 food no need to sneek in food due to high ticket prices. No reason we should not draw 2500 for this game. Students are back. Even they can afford $1 food items.

I am going to place some calls to local churches within 20 minutes of BG. Area church youth groups are always looking for something reasonable to do. What better way than attend what should be a competitive basketball game.

Love this deal - a great incentive to bring in new fans, and they'll see a great match-up. I know many fellow recent BG grads who won't come to games now because they are not free. No excuses this time! Plus, the hot dogs are damn good.

I'm glad I bought season tickets. Now they need bodies in the stands so they create $1 days for lots of stuff. How 'bout a voucher for food to make up the difference I paid for my ticket? Attendance is down. I hope lots of people show up ' cause it's cheaper. Please don't penalize me 'cause I'm loyal to the Falcons.
Hoping that friends of mine with families will take in this game & cheer on the women. Glad it's more reasonable for them. I just feel my season ticket turned really expensive......thank you fixed income.
Now we've figured out that cheaper prices bring in more people......so why did the prices go up when we moved to the Stroh? Get people in then raise prices. Oh well! (off soap box).

Did the article really say only 543 people were at the game? BG draws better than that, correct?

Sue, I agree with you but its a lost cause. I complained for the past four years that being a football season ticket holder DID NOT HAVE ANY BENEFIT EXCEPT HAVING THE SAME GUARANTEED SEAT EVERY GAME. With me buying 4 season tickets I ended up paying a total of $152 more over the course of the season. It would been cheaper if I took advantage of the ticket and food promotions. Now they are coming up with deals in basketball too making my season tickets even more expensive. I feel we should be compensated somehow but know that will not happen. Season ticket holders get really screwed.

The Redwings have done the same thing in recent years...some games were as cheap as $8 and they were priced after people had bought tickets for a multiple of that value...things go on sale...deals get cut...it's the way of the world...

Same reason gyms have new member deals but don't discount the old members. You're trying to BUILD a fan base, not keep the one you have. Most season ticket holders are there anyway because they are die hards. As AD you want to create new die hards. Sounds like your AD is very astute on the business side as well as on the athletic side. You are lucky to have him.

First the games are too expensive...then they're too cheap. Oi vey....

I thought the beneft of season tickets was picking your seat (wash your hands afterwards, OK?) You won't be able to do that buying single game seats

Does anyone have a break down / pie chart of where the money for season tickets go?
x% for team and supplies
y% for facilities & game staff
z% for marketing
xx% administrative salaries

... just curious ...

This is just a guess, but I would assume they take all money from all ticket sales, and it goes into a giant pot. From that pot, they pay for all sorts of things for all sorts of sports. For example, tennis, track & field, baseball, softball, etc. are all sports that do not charge admission. Thus, money from the sports that do charge admission is used to fund these. Otherwise, coaches for those sports would be volunteer, and the swimmers would lay on the dirt and pretend to swim.

Flipper is correct. As I have stated the only benefit I have as bring a season ticket holder and Anderson Club member is that I can choose my own seat. You would think bring a season ticket holder would have more benefits but it doesn't. I will continue to be a season ticket holder, Anderson Club member and Falcon Club member because I know a portion of my fees go towards scholarships which is very important to me. I did see where each week a different falcon club member will be a spotlight on bgsufalcons.com

Another week, another complaint. Time to compose 6 more letters to the Sentinel Tribune, which will do nothing but further the negativity. Maybe the negativity of BG in general should be questioned via a letter to the editior of the Sentinel Tribune.

I am not complaining and I don't feel Sue is either. I was just saying that when your a season ticket holder in 4 sports, and pay for 16 seats, you feel you should get some benefits. Like I said I am glad that the money I spend on my tickets, Anderson Club and Falcon Club, along with donations go on to pay for scholarships. I am sure Sue feels the sane way. We are not complaining and I don't see any letters written in the ST, unless its Dustin. All other Universities, including Miami and even Toledo give their season ticket holders added perks.

Hopefully we can bring in about 2500 on Sunday. I contacted over 26 churches and five athletic directors at high school to spread the word about Sundays game. Go Falcons
