Unfortunately we don't get consistent guard play....honestly I'd move Thomas to the 1 with Brown and Clarke at the 2. Then I'd put Calhoun, Sealy and Black upfront for more stretches. Our strength is inside yet we play soft perimeter offense. Get the ball into the big boys and the outside will open up. Crawford playing more than 12-15 mins a game is bad news. He doesn't understand how to move the ball.

Bingo! Our guard play KILLS us!

Thomas at the one is an interesting idea, but I'm afraid he'd get destroyed defensively against quick guards. Offensively though, I think the idea has some merit. He wouldn't create a lot off the dribble himself, but he is the only player on this roster that has consistently shown the ability to pass the ball through traffic.

Since the early days of Polk's tenure we've had big guys that could be a presence down low but we haven't had a single guard that had a clue how to feed the post. That is still a major issue on this team as well. What good is working for post position if the entry passes make our guy lose position just to corral the ball?

Our guard play is STILL holding us back...

I think a major part of our post problem is that the guys are given the ball and the first thing they want to do is put the ball back on the floor one last time and they get called for travelling or they turn over the ball.

I think if you want to have Crawford bring the ball up and then run the offense through Thomas on the wing...some NBA teams have used a "point forward" concept in place of a true PG...that might work. I think Thomas gets toasted like Thomas' English muffin on a January morning if he actually tries to play PG... :). I totally agree with Drago and Hammb on our guard play...it sucks, by and large.

Really? Because that tells me that we missed 5. My mathematical skills haven't deserted me, have they?

Here's another angle: look at the game-by-game performances for our top 7 scorers. You'll see that the scoring totals are all over the place for everybody. Thomas and Calhoun's scoring totals scatter greatly, in particular.

It would be interesting to compare the standard deviations against a benchmark.
