Michigan WR Daryl Stonum....
got kicked off the team recently after spending a week in jail. He had two DUI's during his time in Ann Arbor and violated probabtion by driving a car...that resulted in the jail time and Brady Hoke's decision to turf him. He's set to graduate this spring...if he does, under NCAA rules he can play anywhere he wants next year as a grad student (like Brian Wright did a couple of years ago). Would you want him here? I would...

no, but he sounds like he would fit in with the scuds and their non qualifiers and transfers!

Don't waste a scholarship on a one-and-done like this guy. Bad news for the locker room. Should go to OSU and play of Urban.factman wrote:no, but he sounds like he would fit in with the scuds and their non qualifiers and transfers!

See...I figure he's here for a year and has so much riding on staying clean...he's a legit NFL prospect...that's he'd be on his best behavoir. We completed 254 passes last year...the guys who caught 172 of them are gone. We've got a coule of talented JUCO's, some very talented returning underclassmen and Jeron Stokes coming in...but..I dunno..the idea of adding ather **** transfer form Michigan appeals to me. Particulary one that runs a 4.4 40...

Yeah, but you said he would need to be a graduate student. Would this guy even be accepted as a grad student? Something tells me that if he's spent time in jail, he's probably not grad school material.

Re: Michigan WR Daryl Stonum....
Maybe. On the other hand, he is graduating and this isn't Harvard.
Re: Michigan WR Daryl Stonum....
Graduating with a degree from Michigan is something to be proud of. I would welcome him at BG.
Re: Michigan WR Daryl Stonum....
We need WRs. But I wouldn't take him unless he can truly prove he's done a character change. The guy seems like lots of trouble. Clawson's all about building this program correctly and building is a sustainable way. Taking a guy like this does not lead to sustainability.

Re: Michigan WR Daryl Stonum....
Interesting discussion...I can see both sides. The big question is his character cuz he certainly put up numbers....

1 year guy, I would do it for sure. I am a proponent of second chances and think if you have enough good guys it lessens the impact of a nucklehead. I think we have a lot of good guys.
Re: Michigan WR Daryl Stonum....
Just to clarify, this is all speculation on him ending up here correct? There hasn't actually been word of him being interested?

Right...pure speculation in my part...

Re: Michigan WR Daryl Stonum....
GT ... I'm all for second chances also, but this isn't the case with Stonum. He got a DUI and had some discipline for that. He had another DUI and missed the entire 2011 season for punishment and also to help clean up / get his life together. His license was suspended and was caught driving a car. If he gets another chance, it would be well past a second chance. For what it's worth, though, coming from Stonum ...
Sounds like a mature way to exit to me.I appreciate everything the University of Michigan, Dave Brandon and Coach Hoke have done for me. I look forward to continuing my football career down the road, but more importantly, right now I'm focused on graduating from Michigan this Spring. I understand only I am responsible for my actions. I'm sad about how all of this turned out, but I completely understand. I love this school and my team and will miss them all greatly. But I'll always be a Wolverine. I know I have grown and matured as a person over the last nine months, and I will continue to learn and grow every day. I want to thank everyone for all of their support, and I hope they will support me in the future.

Re: Michigan WR Daryl Stonum....
Valid point but in the era of spread offenses it is much easier to replace a receiver who cathes 60-100 passes than it was 10-15 years ago. It was a lot different to replace a Robert Redd than it is to replace a Eugene Cooper. I think we will find players to fill those voids without him but I do like your idea. It would definitely remove a big question mark heading into next season.Flipper wrote:We completed 254 passes last year...the guys who caught 172 of them are gone.
