ANOTHER SCHEDULING CONFLICT.......WHAT THE ####

Post by gmartin »

Well today it was announced that the men's home game against Kent, Sat Feb 25, has been changed. The start time for that game has been moved from 4pm to 6pm. NOW WE HAVE A SCHEDULING CONFLICT BETWEEN BASKETBALL AND HOCKEY. THE HOCKEY TEAM PLAYS MICHIGAN, SENIOR NIGHT AND MASCOT BEHEADING. THIS IS TOTAL B.S. I AM SERIOUSLY THINKING ABOUT CANCELLING ALL SEASON TICKETS TO ALL SPORTS (men's and women's basketball, football and hockey). I could give a sh$t about moving the game for TV. Ever hear of the word NO. I am so sick of this crap. What was a wonderful day of triple header sports is now a clusterf$ck..... We all need to call GC and write letters of displeasure.

Anyone opposed to a 9:05 dropping of the puck.......

If we dropped one or more of these programs, we wouldn't have such conflicts. Which one should we drop?

Does the Athletic department make any money on the TV broadcast?
Does the Athletic Department make enough money to offset the potential loss of attendence at the hockey game vs Mich.?
Because of this, will there be more of those blue people at the hockey game than BG fans.
Is it just me or does it appear that on the Athletic Department pecking order, hockey comes behind Football, F Basketball, M Basketball et al ?

The 5 people watching on tv won't generate near the income as the announced attendance of 4,000 for the hockey game.

It doesn't matter to him.....he runs the athletic department with one goal.....to make himself look as good as possible and build his resume for his next job. He is going to take the STO game because it will go on his resume for BG playing on "national tv". Attendance doesn't matter to him because he just does creative accounting to make sure he gets attendance numbers respectable. People get all p' od whenever myself and a couple others who actually know how he runs things speak the truth. BG Athletics is a laughing stock with the exception of a couple of sports....hopefully more people start to voice their concerns over the way things are done by the athletic department.

I got ripped a new one for saying exactly the same thing three years ago when the future of the program was in doubt.

We know for a fact that telling STO "no thanks" is an option? Or is this another one of those deals where TV dictates to the conference and the conference dictates to us.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

HOW DARE YOU BRING UP A DIFFERENT POSSIBILITY FOR WHY THIS SWITCH WAS MADE!!!!!

I really don't see the conflict, hoops vs Kent or hockey vs MICHIGAN, seems like a easy choice to me :-D

It may not be a conflict for you, but I am an Anderson Club member who pays for 6 season tickets to every basketball game. I also buy season tickets for hockey. Have 6 seats there. I live 4 hours away and attend almost every home game so it pisses me off when we have conflicts like this. That's a lot of money lost because we just had to be on Regional TV. It's not like were no ESPN or CBS.

If we're allowing a conference to dictate that we must change game times even when the change will mean a direct conflict, it's time for the Athletic Department to grow some testicular fortitude and tell said conference that we are going to do right by our student athletes. The 2 seniors have literally been through hell during their time here, yet they are on the ice everyday giving everything they have. One last slap in the face is no way to send them off.
