This game was won on the back of Calhoun and a couple huge shots by Dee Brown. Fantastic stretch by Calhoun where he made like 4 buckets in a row, and I think had a personal 7-0 run in there somewhere. Dude was dominant and they couldn't find an answer for him at all.

Love it when Calhoun is on, because he can be as good as anybody in the MAC. It's the west, so you should beat them, but still nice to come away with a road victory :)

Gotta say, this is a pretty nice time for falcon athletics. The women's team is winning every game, and the men are starting to really turn it on now after an up and down first two months. And then hockey is playing much better in the second half. All told, I think we could be in for a strong finish here.

In the case of the men's team, it seems like the one consistency we have is defense. We have rarely given up 70+ points this year, and in the recent hot streak the opposing team hasn't shot the ball well, and have really had to work hard for points. I know we aren't playing top tier competition right now, (though obviously BSU is better than NIU or WMU), but wins are wins. At this point we're in contention for a top 4 spot in the MAC tournament, I don't think Akron or Ohio is really catchable...though we have a win against Ohio head to head so who knows, if we win down in Athens maybe we have a shot.

Its going to be an exciting 2nd run through the East. But first things first, BEAT TOLEDO!!

Worthen Arena is exhibit A why the Stroh Center didn't need to seat 10,000. It's pretty, but it's a cave.

The Apostrophe took the game over when he needed to, then got it out for a couple killer 3's when Balls Tate closed in on him. A few fewer fingernails, but great to see the Falcons get the W!

Just got back home from the Ball State game. The wife and I decided to make the long journey over there on Monday and I am glad we did! It was a great game to watch! Went to the BG/BSU football game in 2010 but didnt get to see much of the campus. We went through the entire campus today and I really liked it. The Arena I am kind of iffy about. ITS HUGE! But it looks like a barn on the inside and my wife couldn't get over how it kind of modeled a high school arena in that the seats were just one big incline. It is very loud in there but it was a half empty place tonight.

A few things I would like to bring up that Ball State has that we don't and what they do that I would like us to do!

1. They have a really hot dance team! I like their uniforms too. Also they had presence there but were not the star attraction besides the basketball team.

2. I witnessed the best (that I have seen) performance of the National Anthem. It was sung by a man in his 40's, his wife and son who were just so talented! They did a three piece harmony and it was RIGHT ON THE MONEY and easy to sing along to!

3. Their marketing team did a really good job with the games and such during timeouts!

4. This was the biggest surprise to me, At halftime instead of the dance team having center stage they had the son of the singers of the national anthem preform 3 songs with his acoustic guitar. He was amazing and everyone went crazy. Best halftime performance I have ever seen at a basketball game!

5. Their student section was not huge but they were loud and were VERY into it. There were about 8 students in the front that were wearing suit coats with nothing on underneath and cut of jeans with fake mustaches and they went by the name The BSU Mustache Men, for a second I thought I was in Oxford by the way they looked. Heard crawford being called everything from angry elf every time he had the ball to willy wonka.

6. This last point brings up another point that I would love to see us do! Their athletic department laid out news papers for the students to use during the pregame line ups. The athletic department also provided cardboard cut outs of different celebs such as Rodney Dangerfield, Queen Elizabeth, and many others. The fact that the athletic department was doing these things to help the student crowd really get into it was awesome to see.

Besides all of that the Falcons played GREAT ball tonight. Sure it was a little sloppy, or maybe really sloppy but we regained composer and finished!!

Great win Falcons!

Were you guys sitting a couple rows behind the bench? I think I almost walked into you on the way in. Nice to meet you. :)

Ball State has done really nice things during timeouts and such the past several times I've been there. Though I think BG probably does an equal amount anymore, BSU's seemed well organized and "professional." Not sure what affiliation their emcee has with the university, but he did a good job. I think during a break in a football game last time we played in Muncie, someone won a $200 gift card for rolling a ball into a ring. I was shocked to look up the population of Muncie out of curiosity and find there are 100,000+ people in the greater Muncie area. Obviously a much different situation to pull from than BG.

And I'm already over the "big heads" era of college basketball. It was humorous to see a couple times, now it can take the White Stripes chant and go away.

TG, yes we were right behind the BG bench! I was wearing my brown BG pullover and brown BG hat and my wife was wearing her BGwarriors shirt.

Although I agree the big heads are not all that cool anymore, it was just the fact that the athletic department had stuff to give the students.

Agreed on the athletic department stuff. I didn't notice that it was the Ath Dept that handed the big heads out, I just saw them pop up. Also noticed they had student "staff" roaming the student section to grab contestants for the timeout games. Seemed to really have their activities staff together.

We were going to move down behind the bench at halftime, but I had just gotten my seat warm and it wasn't as bad of a spot as the initial hike up led me to believe. :)

How far is Ball State from BG. I had always though it was on the west side of their state until recently.

Ball State is on the east side of the state, east of I-69. 45 min northeast of Indianapolis. About 2 1/2 - 3 hours from BG depending on how fast you drive.

We took the back way so it took us just over 3 hours! Went down Rt. 24 to Rt. 1 and we hit Rt. 67 into Muncie. Went there before when BG Football played them there in 2010 and took 75 down that time. I liked the route we took this time and it was only 18 minutes longer according to Google maps.
