BiG game in Athens...

Post by Falconfreak90 »

With Kent State beating UB last night, that helps the Falcons out a bit. Akron hosts Miami tonight and, while I would love to see an upset, I think Akron will win that one. That would make the Zips 11-1 MAC. KSU and UB are now 9-3 while the winner of the BG/OU game will move up to 8-4. No question the East has a good chance getting all 4 byes in the tourney...EMU lost last night to CMU and is now 6-6 in the MAC. Beating OU would put us in a good position with games yet to play against the Flashes and Bulls. I don't think we can catch the Zips at this point unless they totally come unglued...ain't gonna happen with Dambrodt. But, we certainly can earn the #2 seed. OU is kinda reeling right now losing 2 straight @ut and @EMU. We've got 4 in a row going...

Well I will be following online while I attend the women's game. Hate having both on the same night. Only a combined 4 more total home games remaining. Wish the men could have played last night so I could have attended both.

Freak, your so smart that people down at Athens feel the need to copy your post as they are either too lazy or non intelligent enough to figure it out on their own.

I copied the above from the BG board and replaced any reference to Ohio with BG, because this is what we're playing for tonight. I, too, am cheering for Akron to beat Miami just to make sure Miami stays down. That CMU win last night was very helpful for us in keeping our distance from EMU. Mondo-important game tonight. I think both teams will play like their heads are under water. Also, did you know there is a BGSU alumni chapter in Athens? They'll be at tonight's game. I guess several of them work for us.

There are several BGSU grads working at OU (and we have one of admissions counselors based out of her home in Athens).

Globe, what part of Columbus are you coming from? I take 35 all the way (from Dayton). I couldn't leave work early today but, maybe for football we could get a group of people from Columbus and Dayton to meet up and go down there.

Hilliard, so not too far away. I would be down for that.

Gmartin will be so pleased...found it on my own!!!

This is a really wierd tournament set up. Not sure if I really like that some teams might have already played 3 games before they get to a couple teams that have played none.

Agreed VERY big one tonight.

Anyone else wish we had that two point loss to Buffalo back? Or the one point loss to Akron? Just think if two more balls go through the hoop we are only one game out. Crazy! This team can play with anyone in the league on any given night.

With that said winning in OU is a tall order. They have only lost one game in the Convo this year (Really, Robert Morris?). And that is when they were getting some national pub and Top 25 votes, so they were probably having some big head issues and looked past old Robert. But what do I know...

We handeled them in BG - so we can play with 'em. But I am cautiously pessimistic on the road.

I agree with Freak, we can DEFINITELY earn the 2 seed and that should be our goal. In my eyes, the 2-seed is really no worse off than the 1-seed because the top 5 in this conference are so evenly matched.

HUGE game tonight, and OU is reeling. LET'S COME BACK WITH ATHENS WITH A WIN!!!

Conversely, if BG and WMU hit their free throws in the final seconds, Akron has 3 losses and we'd have a 4-way tie for first (in the loss column). I love how even the top 5 teams in this conference are! That's the way it should be!!
