This posthas nothing to do with the Falcons Bulls game itself.
I announce that up front in case you're one of those people who hates reading posts that have nothing to do with the match between the two teams.
Can any one give us some insight as to what happened to the cancer survivors?
It was announced before the second half that cancer survivors would be forming a human tunnel. It looked like 25 - 30 women gathered in the corner. The second half began, and no human tunnel. The first official time out came and went with no mention of the women gathered. Bit by bit the women returned to their seats, some of them having expressed their opinions, from the looks of it. The BGSU representative left with what appeared to be a plaque (I could be wrong) and went upstairs. The three remaining women were unceremoniously presented a foam finger and a t-shirt. (Apparently we don't award football highlight DVDs any more, thank God.)
Eventually cancer survivors were invited to stand, but it seemed rather rushed in the midst of noise, and I don't think they received the attention or the applause that they really deserved.
Transfer2BG can't take the credit for this farce.
Why does the administration settle for "almost" so often? Stroh may still be a work in progress and perhaps operating it is still a work in progress (never mind how long they had to plan before opening). This has nothing to do with the Stroh, but there is a pattern emerging - a track record, if you will. How is it that things get planned (or half-planned) and don't get executed? Are all the different factions talking to each other in advance, or do they wait until the last minute thinking that the serendipity of the moment might carry them through? Is no one embarrassed?
Typically after a situation like this, administration goes on a head-hunting mission. It has to be SOMEbody's fault. Blame must be placed. Off with his head! Off with his head! Put a band aid on it. Do a knee-jerk reaction.
Here's an idea - instead of searching for fault and blame, perhaps time would be better spent figuring out how to prevent another fiasco. Perhaps staff can learn how to TALK to each other before an event.
I know some people think this is trivial since it has nothing to do with the game, but it is, in fact, part of the TOTAL PRESENTATION. The coaches and teams do their part for the main event. If we are to continue to have distractions, entertainment, and side shows, it would look a whole lot better if everything else was as well prepared as the dance team, cheerleaders and band are.
