+1. Really disappointing we couldn't make the tourney in a year we were actually hosting it but overall this was a very impressive season and I can't wait for next year.

LOL! How did I miss that one. So then who do you root for between the directional michigan programs?

Now its time to root for EMU
Curious, why would we want EMU to win out?
I think between EMU and CMU, EMU would represent our conference the best in the NCAA. And I will take EMU over UT anyday. As far as an NIT bid, since we are the regular season champs we are guaranteed a bid, however hosting the game would be next to impossible unless its in AA and I don't even think that's an option.

Curt just finshed his press conference. He said he's hoping they get to host an NIT game on a Thursday. I believe he's talking about the Thursday before? NCAA women play on Sat-Mon and Sun-Tue.

Yeah I know, but the NCAA takes possession of Stroh the morning of the 15th as posted somewhere else on here. I just don't see how we can host a home game. I hope we can.

The Stroh Center just might be an option - for March 15

Here are the date ranges for each round in 2012:
Round 1 March 14-16
Round 2 March 17-19
Round 3 March 21-23
Quarterfinals March 24-26
Semifinals March 28-29
Championship March 31

BG hosts OHSAA tournaments on March 14 and March 16 (doubleheaders each night). NCAA won't take possession of the Stroh Center until AFTER the high school tournament games.

Do they still do BYES in the first round of the NIT. Or did that change a few years ago. I remember BG had a bye a few years ago.

I dont think the 15th would work. That day in between there is a shoot around for teams and a press conference session for each. I think the Stroh would still be under NCAA rule.

March 14 - OHSAA High School Basketball (doubleheader)
March 15 -
March 16 - OHSAA High School Basketball (doubleheader)
March 17 -
March 18 - NCAA Women's Round 1 (doubleheader)
March 19
March 20 - NCAA Women's Round 2 (single game)

Sorry, but the high school teams don't get a days advance shoot around and press conference in the Stroh Center. The NCAA doesn't take over the Stroh Center until AFTER the games on March 16.

There is a lunch event on Thursday the 15th to witness the NCAA taking over the Stroh. Is the lunch event now a time to watch nothing?

I've never been a fan of the conference tournaments deciding who gets the NCAA bid. Your team spends the entire winter fighting to win a regular season championship and basically get little to show for it. Especially in smaller conferences that typically only get one bid.

I would prefer going back to the days of a regular season champion getting the auto bid to the tournament, but I know $$$$$ will dictate that never happens.
