Why all the heartburn here? This is a fan board...it's what we do. We have a coach underperforming and most know is in a lame duck situation. So whether it happens this year or next year, it's interesting to speculate/dream about who could be leading this organization in the near future.

Flipper, whatever you're smoking you better share it. If BG can dump Knoblauch with 2 years to go on a contract, they certainly can, and will, dump a 500 coach at the end of his contract.
George Jackson was the only bright spot on this staff, temper or not.

Right...because Louis Orr's contract is comparable to what Dee Knotchbelow was earning...

Orr was GC's first hire...he's going to give him every chance to right the ship, even if he doesn't deserve it.

Yeah? So his first hire can be his 3rd fire. He seemed to be the best choice (!) at the time in view if the Dakich II years, but we need new blood for a new arena, or is BG always going to be know as the "hockey" school when the hockey team resurges?

There's nothing insulting about these types of posts -- it's life. You either improve and move forward, or you get left behind.

Of all people Coach Orr certainly knows this, and it's not like the team members have never heard of a coach being replaced.

BG can be soooooo much better than where Orr will take them. He's already proven to be a fairly inept recruiter, and that is the lifeblood of any college basketball program.

Ohio produces much better D-1 (MAC) recruits than BG is getting; some of them in his own back yard of Northwest Ohio.

I see this program listing for at least a few more years if they keep Orr and don't get busy and make a change -- and BG can be much better with the facilities it now has to offer.

As for any irritation you might be suffering from reading this: might I suggest a slug of Maalox might help.

Seeing as you honestly think Jim Tressel, a known cheater, should be a head coach at our Alma Mater, I find myself laughing hysterically at this post!!

Again, pixies and fantasy. You see a known cheater. The non self righteous out there see one of the greatest coaches of all time who could take a team in the MAC (and probably will) to heights that could not be imagined otherwise.

I agree the last several years have been more of a struggle, but he was intriguing enough to have Michigan offer BEFORE Beilein and that Carbondale is not exactly a happening place to recruit to. I do see where you are coming from though and sometimes a change in scenery is good for everyone.
After that 06-07 season he was awful....the fans have been infuriated by his continuing of running players off. Here's his top recruits since 06.

2007
Nick Evans- Left team
Brandon Wood- Transferred to Valpo eventually Michigan State

2008
Kevin Dillard- Transferred to Dayton
Anthony Booker- Transferred to Iowa State
Ryan Hare- Transferred to Southern Indiana
Torres Roundtree- Transferred to Southwestern Illinois

These 4 were Southern Illinois best recruiting class ever. Dillard was Mr. Basketball in Illinois, Booker could have gone almost anywhere and Hare was one of the top players in Chicago.

2009
Diamond Taylor- Signed with Southern ended up at Wisconsin
Jordan Meyers- Left Southern

2010-
Signed 4 JUCO players

I know a few Southern boosters and they have been beyond pissed with the way it played out.

Things spiraled out of control quickly for him.

Those of us who care about our Alma Mater won't let a cheating scumbag anywhere close to it.

An interesting post to revisit (atleast most of it) What of these coaches are still available?
