MAC Tournament champions and now off to the Sweet 16.... What more needs to be said? Better program, better players, better coach, better across the board. I stated what I thought about them a month into the season and have stood by my words all season long. I've been saying it all season long they were the best team in the MAC and OU has proved me right. We'll never see the days of this at BG and yeah, I appreciate this kind of play no matter who the team is. I would be saying the same thing if it was Toledo out there.

I get you think BG basketball is pure s**t and that we will NEVER see any of this at BG and that OU is the pinnacle of athletic perfection. So there's no reason to remind us every time DJ Cooper farts or Frank Solich gets a DUI.

I honestly think you will cheer for OU to beat BG in football and basketball just to say they are still better and we are still bad.

Our Falcons beat three NCAA teams in the Stroh this year (Detroit, Temple and Ohio U).

I honestly think you will cheer for OU to beat BG in football and basketball just to say they are still better and we are.

I wish like he'll this was BG and not OU or other MAC school out there doing this. But it's not. And the bottom line is, I have no problem admitting the fact that they are good and we are not. It's a fact, not an opinion. I don't give a damn if people agree or disagree with my or anyone else's assessment on here. But I'm not going to simply roll and wallow in our listless and apathetic program and look for comfort from others to back me like some do on here. I stand by words. Period. And right now they are looking really good as much as I wish my damn alma mater would make me eat every on of them.

33, I actually think almost everyone of this board respects Ohio and is glad they are carrying the MAC flag to the Sweet 16.

However, you are literally the only "fan" of BG or any team for that matter that I have seen continually gush and rave about and legitimately root for a rival. While also belittling your alma-mater and supposedly the team you root for.

Funny. One thing that I noticed a long time ago was that YOU, Falcon137, NEVER fail to tout the programs in SWO, specifically Dayton and Cincinnati, and how they so superior to the MAC. I was tempted to start calling you Bearcat137 or Flyer137.

Personally, while I'm a lifelong BG fan, I root for the MAC as a whole. I always root hard for MAC representatives in the NCAA tournaments and for all MAC schools to succeed in non-conference games. There are many college sports fans that take the same approach - look at Big 10 fans. There is nothing traitorous about this or BGSU33 enjoying Ohio U doing well (although overdoing it can be tiresome).

Sure, I bring up Dayton and Xavier's programs in certain basketball discussions (I can't remember ever talking about UC), specifically in the discussions where people have talked about how BG needs to improve their basketball program. Or where people have talked about conference realignment and specifically a Big East breakup. I could have compared them to Cleveland State as a basketball only school, but, I don't live in Cleveland and know very little about their program and school, same with Butler and Gonzaga.

I live in SW Ohio and read and see those teams more than any other school, so it's easy for me to compare them to.

As to whether Xavier is superior to any school MAC or not...I would say Xavier is superior to almost any program in the country, every BCS conference school included. I don't get any personal satisfaction out of them winning, though.

If it bothers people on the board I use them as examples, I would be glad to stop. I don't intentionally start posts or discussions to tout those schools. However, when the discussion has been about improving your program and wanting to reach a certain level I feel they're relevant.

Personally, I get no enjoyment out of seeing a rival do well, whether it be in the NCAA tournament or not. I know certain conferences really pull for each other, specifically the Big10. Mostly because if a Big10 team beats an SEC team it can change peoples perception. Maybe it's not fair to 33, because I know a lot of people pull for MAC teams out of conference and even I do to a certain extent especially in football.

But, I have a long hatred for OU, Miami, and Toledo. I don't like seeing them do well and would never root for them to do well. I also don't think NCAA tournament runs change the perception of conferences. People don't focus on the fact that OU didn't win the MAC regular season title and struggled within the MAC East, therefore the MAC must be pretty good and may deserve more than 1 bid, they focus on the Cinderella story of that particular school. Which is fine, but I don't think it helps BG grow their own program.
