Maybe you should have ponied up some money and pay him what he is worth to THE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT and COMMUNITY as you say. Hard to believe the best performing coach in the department just walked away. Is there something that BG could have offered him to stay? Or was it having to put all your marbles into one basket by winning two games on a neutral court after going 24 - 3 (approximate), which then gets discredited if you lose one of those two games. Going 26 - 4 (approximate) every year and not even getting looked at for at-large bids played a role in this somewhere.
I think you're way off base here. Miller was more than fairly compensated here at BG.

Thanks Curt. We will miss you!
Way off base? If BG was base, unfalconbelievable would be located two days out from Mars orbit.

Simmer down, posting a qoute from GC doesn't mean casting blame. Just stating facts and then posed a few questions.
At least pubicly, it didn't seem as though we tried to match any other offer or maybe we couldn't which is to bad. Seems as though we will be in this position forever as BG fans. Once you get a great coach enjoy the ride because as some point they won't be here long.

A quick Googling shows Miller signed an extension in Sept. '09 to make about $160K a year. I'm thinking when the numbers come out for his IU deal, they will likely approach double that figure....
I'll bet he is offered $475-500K per year. So I can't blame him for heading west. There is absolutely no way that BG could offer him that amount of money (because unfalconbelievable is a tightwad and won't provide GC the money necessary to keep Curt ).
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't IU have a decent track and field program? If I recall, the two boys have been having some success at distance running. This could be an opportunity that works for the ENTIRE family, and not just Curt.
Curt was making $182K gross pay in 2010. The coach at Illinois was making $310K when she was fired. Cullop at Toledo makes $245K. Just some comparisons. Most of the women's coaches in the B10 make between $300K and $380K. Foster at OSU makes $800K, by far the highest paid. The coach at Green Bay that took the Illinois job was making $122K. Now that's under-paid.
What does it take when your coach is a 6 time MAC Coach of the Year and Regional C.O.Y. this season... Why should you be paid your true value... ahhhh Ridiculous BG!
Falcon Fans need to ask themselves this question: How many sports have been successful under GC's hiring / watch thus far???
Who's going to "fill" the Stroh now???

Go figure.

Greg Rakestraw. He is a nice change from Dakich. Dan might not even mention it if he was on because no one in Indianapolis cares about WCB. The Indy Star actually have an article on line. suprised.
Has anyone considered that maybe Miller was truly ready for new scenery and new challenges in his life? He couldn't really realistically accomplish much more at BG.
Regardless of how you feel about Greg Christopher, there's really no way he can be blamed for this. We were lucky to have Miller for as long as we did. Best of luck to him at IU.

Exactly, Curt used other job offers in the past to get pay raises and I don't think he tried to play that card this time. I think he wanted to move on and I can't blame him one bit.
