I think there is some brown and orange colored glasses going on in this thread. I hope he is good too and the coaches said he was improved...he needs to be.

You like Crawford and hate on the guy who had one of the best seasons a BGSU QB has ever had? Wow.....
Boneheaded play after boneheaded play to close the year. Thats what I remember.

Sorry I dont remember the individual plays. You nailed me on that one.

Here are some threads where we discussed it.

Whatever....

I think Schilz progressed a great deal last year. We have to protect him...he becomes far less effective when he has to move his feet and throw. When he can take a 3-5 step drop, set up and make the throw, he's good...really, really good. Maybe he'll become more comfortable throwing on the move as he gains experience...it'd add a dimension to the offense.

I tend to think he caught a lot of flak for other people's issues last year. That long pick against OU was on the WR who ran the wrong route (we had two guys five yards apart on the sideline and nobody in the seam towards the hash where the throw went) more than Schilz.

I think he's got a real shot at being all-MAC this year or next

+1 Flip...

I defiantly agree...Schilz has a chance to be an all MAC player with the offensive weapons he has around him. Last year it seemed the majority of the pressure came through the middle when Bojicic moved to tackle. This year, I see the pressure coming from the edges with a young LT. RB's and TE's have to big on help on protection this year

Globetrotter wrote:According to these write ups the only negative for a team that went 2-7 to close the year is backup OL. Thats awesome.
I'm guessing that was supposed to be sarcastic...No, the team is not perfect. But for the first SPRING scrimmage I though there was an excellent balance on plays made on both sides of the ball and really saw improvement in all areas.

I thought I was dead on with what I wrote...but I'm biased because, lets face it, I wrote it. Be curious to hear what you saw differently

I didnt go and I hope you are right. I just think there is a tendancy to ignore how awful we were last year. All fans of all teams do that.

mc ... thanks for an excellent writeup! I'm a third of the country away so hearing an account like this and following practice reports online give me my fix of Falcon Football. Good stuff you've got there.

"How awful we were" WTF are you talking about? We were a couple of plays from being bowl eligible, we played UT and OU very tough and we beat Temple. We looked like crap for a half against NIU and WMU and the WVU game was a clusterf**k. Other than that....I think we showed a lot of promise...

NP Mark, I enjoy doing it. Won't be able to go this Saturday nor the Spring Game. Does anybody know if they will show it online like they did last year?

We were 2-7 to close the year and could not get out of our own way to get those wins. Same consistent problems.

2-7 to end the season? I do believe you are mistaken.

We were 5-7, and our record went as follows:

1-0
2-0
2-1
3-1
3-2
3-3
3-4
4-4
4-5
4-6
4-7
5-7

So, in our last 9 games we were 3-6, not 2-7. We were 2-3 in our last 5, 1-1 in our last two, and 1-0 in our last game.
ROLL ALONG!!!
