Top 5 Games Ever (this was in it)

Wow, what an incredible win, great second half crowd and fun, fun night! This game easily jumps into my top 5 personally attended games of all time- where does it rank in your list?

1. Ball State- 94 or 95 (down 7 with 45 seconds, Matt Otto sends it to OT, Shane Komives wins it.)

2. Miami 95 or 96 (Devin Davis era- down 20 comeback to win)

3. at Akron 2001-01 (ANthony Stacey hits game winner)

4. Michigan State 91-92 (top ten Steve Smith spartans fall to a team with "the right chemistry)

5. Tonights game

5.a.- EMU 1996-97 (Antonio game winner, I was ejected.. . .)

Wow. Just off the top of my head, and in no particular order...

The win over Michigan a few years ago was very exciting, even if Michigan was in a bit of a low point, they still had some ballers on that team.

The win over Kent where Stacey took over the career scoring lead was a good one. Packed house, and I think it was a tight game, I just remember alot of energy...

Was the Daniels winner vs. EMU in 96-97 or the year before? The one with the "trip from above"? I seem to remember a great game with them where Antonio came up big, but it was while I was in school, and his brother passed away in Feb. '96... I think that game was also the 1,000th win in school history.

My freshman year, 92-93, Michael Huger hit a jumper at the buzzer to beat Kent State 49-48.

I'm sure there were others, but none really pop out at this time...

Ahhh you are right about that EMU game... my bad AD's junior year, not senior year it was 95-96.

I'll also throw out a triple(?) over time game versus Ohio U. in 89 or 90?

THe Siena 145-130 whatever it was weeks before MSU was also great.

Sadly I was in Iowa for the Michigan game- but I hooked it up at a sports bar.

That Kent game was pretty good too- back when the energy was consistently UP.

I can't believe the amazing turn around after halftime. Credit goes out to whatever DD said to them in the locker room. That was by far the greatest men's game I've seen in AA since the Michigan game...totally amazing!

The Miami game when we were down 20 something in the second half in the mid 1990's was my favorite comeback win of all!

My fav. game of all time would be the 24 come back at Kent a few years ago. We went to that game and that was awesome!!!

The No. 1 alltime has to be so long ago that most on this board were not around walking this mortal coil. Actually, it predates my recollection a bit but it was when Nate Thurmond and Howie Komives and the boys beat a then #1 ranked and unbeaten Loyola of Chicago who I think was eventually the NCAA champs. Year? without looking it up I would guess 1961.

Fred, there is no doubt....that was the biggest game ever played at AA and the biggest win, and I doubt we ever eclipse it.

1963, actually. I think that's easily the biggest win in school history, with the win over MSU a decent second, but I think this thread was started with "best games I've seen in person".

Knocking off the Spartans in their first ever game at the Breslin Center was pretty amazing. Clinton Venable hit a buzzer beater to win it for the Falcons... I was in the TOP row of the Breslin... I think there was more noise coming out of our little group than all of East Lansing!! (not arguing with anyone else's picks... just adding one to the list)

the game against the tar heel rejects of UNC-Wilmington was also pretty good...it was about 4 years ago....they had that great shooter (Blizzard i think his name was) and they went on to beat Maryland in the tounrey I think

Ok then I'll go back in the wayback machine again to when I was on the 1st row and watched the last BG team to make the Big Dance (1968) beat two consecutive Big Ten teams at AA--Wisconsin and Michigan. This team eventually won the MAC and lost to Marquette by one when the NCAA only allowed 16 teams.

My top 5?

1) Yesterday's win. The comeback and the opponent.

2) BG's 80-74 OT MAC Tourney win at Akron in, I believe, the 1998-99 season.

3) Stacey's winning shot at Akron in 2000-2001. The Zips fans were on AS from the get go...and he lit up Akron for at least 25 and the game winner. Then seeing the same Akron fans shake AS's hand after the game on his performance...truly a classy moment.

4) BG's 69-57 win over Ball State in 2002 MAC tourney at the Gund. Why? Watching Keith McLeod light up the Cards for 36 was too much...one night after I watched him hit the trey to beat Akron, 60-58. We lost to Kent in the final, 70-59, but it was a great run.

5) BG's incredible comeback from 24 down to beat Kent at Kent 2 years ago. That one was incredible.
