Jason Grunkenmeyer in basketball is equal to Craig Fischer in football for me when it comes to some of the toughest losses for BG. Sadly I witnessed both of them firsthand. The desperation heave for three, and the 70-something-yard job for a TD.....those were two of the toughest losses I've experienced as a Falcon fan.BleedOrange wrote:Kill Jason Grunkenmeyer.

That was one of my biggest heartbreaks, too. It was almost as bad as being told in the 8th grade by a girl named Patty that she thought I was a creep.BGSU33 wrote:Jason Grunkenmeyer in basketball is equal to Craig Fischer in football for me when it comes to some of the toughest losses for BG. Ya know '33, I have to rank our home loss against a 20-loss CMU team in this year's MAC Tourney as, while not really heartbreaking, but flat-out freaking goddamned pathetically annoying. My mental response to that loss was "okay guys, now you can just get the fnck" outta here.

That Patty sounds like a real bitch....
I was quite the tumbler back in the day, H2O...of course, that day isn't necessarily today, so...

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Well, given your signature line I had to think cartwheels weren't a great idea....Flipper wrote:That Patty sounds like a real bitch....

Yep, that was the end of a 2 or 3 year Falcon "almost" NCAA appearance. Grunkenmeyer's 3-point shot from East Jesus when all we had to do was foul the rebounder for the win.
One or two years before that, and I think it was Anthony Stacey in Toledo's Seagate Center got called for a 10-second violation that led to a turnover and we went on the lose the game, knocked out in the what, semi's?
That with the great fat punter #77's fake punt and TD run will be etched in my brain forever.

Wasn't it Demar Moore who got called for that 10 seconds??? I can still see him lolly gagging it up the court.HoopsFan wrote:One or two years before that, and I think it was Anthony Stacey in Toledo's Seagate Center got called for a 10-second violation that led to a turnoverBleedOrange wrote:Kill Jason Grunkenmeyer.

Re: JD Weatherspoon post?
I don't think so. Whoever it was, he got the rebound, paused to talk to the coach, and got called for the 10 seconds.

It was definitely Demar Moore.

THIS is the reality of BG basketball -- not the crock of crap being posted above about finishing in the "top 5". Maybe Mrs. Orr is now posting here...guest44 wrote:Don't forget what we did in the MAC Tournament, when it really matters. Don't forget what we do outside the MAC every season, lose more than we win. We finished tied for 5th with 3 seniors and an entire starting lineup back. That's success? If you can't make an impact as coach in a league like the MAC in 5 years, then your probably not going to. No more Anderson Arena excuse. No more Dakich excuses? Just a bunch of empty orange bleachers in the end zone, and a scholarship to burn. This attitude that BG coaches deserve 10 years to do something is laughable. As laughable as an empty student section in a brand new arena.
