Anyone know which country club he belongs to? Outside of Inverness and Sylvania are there any other country clubs in the Toledo metro area?
Don't know which one but there are several others around: Belmont in P-burg, Toledo, Stone Oak, Brandywine and Highland Meadows are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Some may be public/private but last I knew they were all pretty much private membership only.
There is a Bowling Green Country Club. Why couldn't it be that one?
That's not actually a country club, is it? I remember shanking one on the road because some kid on the playground / pool that sits right next to the course, let out a scream during my backswing. Forest Creason is a better course than BG Country Club. Stone Ridge would be the only course if they were staying in BG, but, that's a golf club. The wording of the contract is country club and if you can have your pick of the litter I would think you would go Inverness.

Would be interesting, but being a member of Inverness is about more than simply being able to afford it. You have to be approved by current membership, etc. Not sure that they could guarantee that to the AD.

I would think that the country club membership would be Brandywine or Belmont. Nice courses, a bit elitist, but they're not Inverness.

Highland Meadows is one of the most fun courses around too, that'd be a great option as well.

BGCC? Pfft...I'd rather play Creason, and I HATE Creason...

It is probably one in the Toledo area, so his kids can hang out with all their friends, as they all go to school in the Toledo area!

Isn't BG the Toledo area?

Hammb, I won't say you're wrong because I don't know Inverness' clubs rules. But the clubs I've come across which are similar (NCR, Moraine, Murfield Village) have understanding's with big companies / universities that if a new CEO or head basketball / football coach wants a membership, they can have one.

Yeah, the guy lives and works in the Toledo area-where else would his kids attend school?

.....and if I would have said Toledo schools, you would have said some aren't actually in Toledo, so I'll just say they are in Lucas County. :butthead:

I think talking about the guy's kids is off the table. Go after the man all you want but there's no reason to bring up the kids in any manner.

You could be right, I really don't know. That makes sense, I guess. I was just saying that I know Inverness is a bit more exclusive than simply having the money. It would make sense that they'd have a deal with local businesses/universities though. And I would think that being the AD of a Division 1 university would probably come with enough status to get you a membership there regardless.

Would be a pretty sweet perk. When I worked for the doctor's office 3 of the doctors were members there...I never got to play on the course though :(

I played it once-very challenging. Of course it was set up for the Open ( I was a marshall, hence my opportunity to play) and the rough, where I tend to play, was like a wheatfield. Had dinner there once and watched a guy try to play the Bob Tway shot from the trap on 18. He hit more than ten shots each one about an inch or so further over the lip of the trap and each one rolled back into the trap. He finally hit one about three inches farther and it just screamed across the green and rolled off the far side. So Tway had about a two inch landing zone where he had a chance to drop that thing and have it go in the hole.

FWIW, I believe his kids did (maybe still do) attend St. Aloysius school, which is in fact in Bowling Green, before going to junior high in Toledo.

Another FWIW, there are plenty of professors, car dealers, doctors, etc that live in BG yet send their kids to 'Toledo area' schools. You gonna take issue with them as well Factman?

Yup...they're going to call it Inverrrrrrrnesssssss. I'm no marketing whiz, but I think that would be a mistake.

That's ridiulous. Then it would no longer be Inverness. The discussion was whether to make it I n v e r n e s s. Actually, they have discussed lengthening it for years but the membership is pretty fond of tradition and has rejected the notion thus far.
