Yoder and Pastor transferring out

Post by ccollin13 »

Via Sentinel Tribune: http://www.sent-trib.com/bgsu-sports/pa ... eam-6-7-12

Roster now stands at 11 players.

Coach Roos: “If I could find someone to say yes,” Roos said about adding a player for 2012-13. “I am recruiting anyone who can fit the system, has the grades, and has the character.”

Interesting....in that I figured Pastor in particular would be getting major P.T. this year. Never figured on losing FOUR players from last years team (assuming Ogle is gone too). Looks like Roos has some MAJOR work ahead of her in keeping the Falcons up to usual standards....

Glad to see we got another asst. coach, but it sure seems to be taking a LONG time to get a staff together. :-k

I agree. Pastor would easily have gotten lots of time behind Halfhill. Now we are stuck without a backup PG at all. I'm not sure any of our current guards have even had game time playing the point, with the exception of Seimone Eli. Slagle of course was a 2 guard transferred to the point, but that process began from her freshman year. Both of are incoming recruits seem to be true wings. Who fills this role? Hoekstra? Eli? Matthews? yikes :(

It is always disappointing when a player decides to transfer. But they have decided this is what is best for them. Logan was really homesick last season. It looks like she never really got over that. Noelle wants more playing time, pure and simple. Both are transferring to a lower division where they can play immediately. Let us remember this, Kaila never played due to injury, both Logan and Noelle were back-ups and Shanique was a project who barely played. Yes, we expected all of them to be much more in the mix this season. But we still have a lot of very talented players. Our depth has taken a major hit. Point guard is a concern. But I have confidence in Coach Roos and her staff. They will find either a player to sign or someone presently on the roster will step up.

Let's give Coach Roos and her staff (and players) a chance before we start worrying about next season being up to our usual standards.

Isn't Canton pretty close to you? This should make watching her much easier.

I'm not attempting to blame them for transferring. It happens all the time, and for BG, usually every year. Hulls' move made a lot of sense; Yoder would still be on the bench next year; Pastor has a right to move closer to home, after all that's what Rogers did in coming here. I'm sure Coach Roos will find a way; I have confidence in her. But I think we have a right to look at the roster at this point and say... one PG is a scary prospect.

I agree. Point guard is a scary prospect. Looking at it right now it will be Jillian Hallfhill at starting point guard and the back-up yet to be decided. Who knows what the future may bring. Simone Eli played point guard in high school. No real experience at the college level, but who knows?

Roster updated either today or late last night. Shows all three transfers gone along with Ogle. Eleven players including 2 incoming Frosh.

You're slipping. I would have expected your response to be something along the lines of:

"What does what you wear to the games have to do with it?"
