Congrats to KSU!!!
Bottom of the 9th? Wasn't Oregon the home team?
Tom,
Had me confused a bit for awhile too...but they mentioned later on that Kent had won a COIN FLIP to determine the home team...not sure what the situation was for the 1st 2 games....but, no matter what now, GO FLASHES!!! Represent the MAC well... (Freak's got the right idea on this...but a real long shot...KSU vs. Stoney Brook for the Natl. Champ. !!!! \:D/

Keep in mind there is a TON of money flowing into Oregon's facilities by way of a small company called Nike. When we were in Eugene in 2007, we were able to check out Oregon and man their facilities put some NFL teams to shame. We were also able to visit Oregon State (I'll root for THAT OSU) in Corvallis.

In the Super Regionals, the host team is home in Game 1, the visiting team is home in Game 2 and there is a coin flip to determine who is home for Game 3, if needed.

I hear you. It's amazing what $$$$ will do for a program and it really shows what a struggle we have to compete.

When we were in Austin a couple of years ago, I was dumbfounded by the Women's Softball Stadium:

Sadly the Flashes lost to Arkansas in the first game, 8-1 on a 4 hitter.

http://www.denverpost.com/colleges/ci_2 ... -state-8-1

Flashes will play Monday at 5 against the Florida/South Carolina loser.

Here is the bracket:

GO FLASHES!!!

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Kent State beats #1 seed Florida to knock the Gators out of the CWS. Kent advances in the losers bracket. Down to the final 6 teams.

Game had a questionable strikeout with bases loaded on a 3-2 pitch. That walk would have tied the game.

Congrats Flashes

Tough call to make as an umpire in that situation, BUT the right call was made. He checked his swing a little to far.

Come on Flashes keep it rolling. BEAT the Gamecocks tonights.

ESPN announcers made a statement the othernight, year starts with 191 D1 schools hopeful of getting to Omaha.

Kent is now one of the final 6 teams, a win tonight would put them in the final four of baseball.

Article in the PD today mentioned that many MAC schools and fans are rooting for the Flashes...all except Akron. They specifically mentioned OU posts...too bad they don't key into AZZ!
Don't think many "outsiders" understand that MAC schools SHARE in the success of each other on the national level, be it OU in NCAA basketball, or now KSU in baseball.
Think about the positive feelings many of us had about the MAC bowl success this past postseason. It proves that the MAC CAN compete at the highest level; perhaps not week in and week out, but more than capable of pulling the "upsets"... (Think BG football vs. Purdue, Ky., Pitt etc.)

Rain delay at the moment for Kent and USC....that's too bad about the UA fans not rooting for Kent. I know many Kent fans here in the Akron area rooted for UA when the Zippies won the title in soccer.

Well OK, maybe the MAC schools DON'T root for ALL of the schools! \:D/
(but we WERE happy for the UT women's NIT success last year)...shows how generous we are! =D>

Kent's season ended today with a 4-1 loss to South Carolina. Hell of a season for the Golden Flashes....who had a relatively young team this year.

They have a regional in Gary, Indiana? That's awesome.

I wish there was a way that this could be capitilized on. As a BG fan I immediately become a MAC fan when I realize BG is out. I am not alone.
