BGSU Ping Hoofer/Voyage Golf Bag

Post by cph2133 »

I graduated in 2009 and I know they sold them then. I'm now trying to buy one, and Forest Creason doesn't have any in stock, and they don't intend on ordering any more (at least according to the kid working in the proshop).

They were similar to this http://thumbs1.ebaystatic.com/m/mv7niS_ ... HQ/140.jpg

Anyone know if there is a store around town that carries them?

Thanks in advance.

Did you try the University Bookstore or SBX?

Or talk with the golf coaches and see if they can ID a possible source or supplier... They usually are approached by sporting goods folks to purchase new equipment...might be able to get you in touch with somebody.

Talked with (who I assume) is the head pro at Forest Creason.

Below is his email response..

"Hi Cullen,
Thanks for your interest. Currently, we are unable to carry that bag. Ping has made a decision to stop offering some collegiate bags because of the high license fee. We are working to find a solution but at this time don’t have any answers. I will keep your information and contact you if something gets worked out. I’m sorry we can’t help at this time. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks again,
Kurt"

It stinks because I know Windmill Lakes has a load of Kent State bags available, but they laughed when I asked if they had any BG in stock ("We'd never carry another MAC school here").

I sent Coach Young an email hoping she perhaps could order one for me. I'm 99% sure Ping will still produce them for the universities golf teams, but just won't sell them retail because they'd need to pay the licensing fee then.

I'll keep checking out on ebay for a while, but don't have my hopes set too high.

Keep checking eBay. Every so often there is one listed, I saw 2 listed awhile back with a name stitched on the side. Those were hoofer bags.

I got a voyager BG bag on eBay about a month ago. Came from a country club in NE Ohio.

Any idea what club? I could call them directly. My guess it was Windmill, they're the only course I've ever seen carry so many golf bags in their proshop.

I spoke with Coach Young and she is able to order them.

The catch is there is a minimum 3 bag order. Anyone else interested?

The second catch is there is a 150 day (5 month) turn around time.

PM me or reply here if you're seriously interested. Thanks.

I have 2 orders committed.

Need 1 more. My guess is price will be roughly $175 but it'll be very nice. There is a 5 month turn around so it should be available by Christmas.

Let me know via PM. Thanks.

So my idea of contacting the golf coaches seems to be working out for you...great!
( I knew this MIGHT be a way, based on how many suppliers contact my son, Head Lax coach at Hudson, EVERY year...to supply his team and/or coaching staff with new gear).

You're a brilliant man Class of 61!

I've gotten 3 people, so I placed an order with Coach Young

Does anyone have any idea why Datrek or Team Effort doesn't offer a BG cart bag? The PING bag looks pretty cool but since walking a course is impractical for me (residuals from Guillain-Barre Syndrome) a 14-way cart bag is what I'm holding out for.

You might try the rout cph went, contact either Forest Creason or the golf team. If they can get him a stand bag they might be able to do a Ping, cart bag.

You could also probably buy a cart bag and take it to a local screen printing shop and have them put the BG logo on it for you.

Wanted to post a follow up.

Coach Young was so helpful in pacing an order after I found 3 buyers. She was quick with communication and very helpful. Talking about someone who is in charge of coaching and recruiting for 2 teams, it was awesome to see her even respond to me initial email, let alone be so helpful.

Anyhow, the bag arrived sometime ago, but haven't gotten around to posting pictures. Here is it in all it's glory.
