And righfully so...it is killer watching this kid boom punts. A BiG weapon in the field position game.

48 days til kickoff...GO FALCONS.

Going back to what you said a few days ago about the D having 9 of 11 guys back (or was it 10 of 11), it would be really nice if the defense could work with this guy to help put teams back deep in their own territory and stay there. Part of our problem over the years has been the offense having so many long fields, and the special teams being so bad that the D often didn't have much margin for error once the other team got the ball.

The more I think about it, the more I think this year could be special for us...IF all three aspects of the game come together. The offense needs to score touchdowns in the red zone, the defense can't give up the big plays that killed us a year ago, and the special teams unit needs to tilt field position in our favor. Strangely enough, because of Schmiedebusch, I'm feeling most confident in the ST unit completing their objective.

Schmiedebusch is a great punter. We all know he can boom it, but, he impressed me in the spring game with his directional punting and pinning it inside the 10.

The question mark will be place kicking. Anyone know if it will be Stein, Farinell, or Tate? Seems like Farinella has the biggest leg, perhaps he will be the kickoff specialist.

Jerry Phillips was injured much of last season. If he is back I bet he is the KOS. Also he is a legitimate contender for the FG kicking job.

He may have left the team. He isn't listed on the updated roster.

I believe Stein will get the first crack...Tate and Farinella both have booming legs so I can see them handling kickoffs. Put the damn ball in the end zone every time so the opposing team starts at the 20. Stein will, more than likely, handle FG's 40 yards and in while the others will handle 40+. Stein did pretty well last year.

Just get the season going...I hate waiting.

Bummer about Phillips. Really nice family. He had one chance to shine in 2009 and was totally hit and miss. Since then he's been plagued by leg injuries. I was really hoping he would go put on a high note ...
