If the coaches want to go that route, go for it. As fans though, I find discussing improving our team by taking advantage of a scandal involving the molestation of children a lot uncomfortable.

Its the reality of the situation. Someone is going to benefit from it, might as well be us.

I would recruit some players that would fill holes in our roster, but I wouldn't just recruit players for the pure sake of recruiting them.

Agree with this...if is helps BG in an area that needs it, do it.footballguy51 wrote:I would recruit some players that would fill holes in our roster, but I wouldn't just recruit players for the pure sake of recruiting them.

It seems to me, they should have made it so schools couldn't "recruit" Penn State players, but the players should be able to contact schools to show interest, and then be "recruited".

My guess is every school in America is looking at Penn State's roster. If they're not actively contacting players, they're certainly not going to hang up the phone if a Penn State player contacts them. Not saying it's right, just saying it's happening.

These Penn State players didn't rape anyone. How can it not be right to try to help them find a place to play football?

A group of 25 players fully committed to the program. That shows serious leadership, and leadership is contagious. I fully expect many many more to follow this example. Some of the incoming players may change their minds to other BCS programs but I do not imagine that many will do that.

If I was one of them I would certainly consider transferring to a school where the first thing that people thought about when they heard the name was not child molestation. I would not blame a single player for transferring.
Plus why go to Penn State when you know they are going to be 25 scholarship players down in a few years and can't play in a bowl game.
A little caveat....Penn STate is trying to schedule Hawaii late in the year several times in the upcoming years to serve as their bowl game. Pretty smart IMO.
Just 2 ohio guys
Nate Cadogan T SR/JR 77 6-5/283 Portsmouth, Ohio/Portsmouth
Michael Zordich RB 7 SR/SR 73 6-1/242 Youngstown, Ohio/Cardinal Mooney
I would certainly take a T with 2 more years left.

Has not played much but is on schedule to graduate in May. With a year left of eligibility and a diploma in his hand I could see him transferring then.

A Kid from Avon HS, (W. of Cleve.) just decommitted from PSU and committed to MEECHIGAN... they're also concerned with losing their #1 recruit, a QB who's "looking at his options" according to an article I read recently.
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)

I just read that ol Timmy B sent six coaches to Penn State to talk to kids there about transferring to Illinois. Wow, what a douchebag.

Heck yes. If a player can help us, let's go get him.
I never understood why the NCAA ever, ever eliminates scholarships. Schools should take those scholarships and give them to other deserving students who--gasp!--don't play a sport but want to go to college. Someone else can figure out the details.
