Re: Game on
Doc,
Looking forward to driving to Gainesville from Gamecock Country. Planning on hitting up The Swamp Bar for dinner Friday night- any other establishments on University Ave. we should definitely hit? As for Saturday, planning to tailgate in the Norman Hall field- what time would you say we need to be up and out there to stake a spot? I was hoping to arrive there around 9am. Any other tips or thoughts on Gainesville or the gameday tailgate experience? We are staying at the Hilton Conference Ctr on West side of Campus.
As far as your Gators- gotta respect your NASTY defense, but I am interested in what Muschamp's offensive approach will be. Will they be looking to run a balanced attack? Break in the QB with testing his aerial ability?

I pulled the alums off of BGSU's own "notable alumni" page (http://www.bgsu.edu/offices/mc/page105617.html) but clearly there are some glaring omissions: Tim Conway, Eva Marie Saint, Don Nehlen, Orel Hershiser, and many more.Class of 61 wrote:Welcome Doc,DocZaius wrote:Gator fan here. I just wanted to wish you all a warm welcome to Gainesville. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Hopefully, Isaac will miss Gainesville and be gone by the time kickoff rolls around.
So, tell me about BGSU! I already know a little, which I've written up here: http://www.the-back-alley.com/forum/con ... University
Please, if you have anything to add or think I've gotten something wrong, let me know.
Looks like you really did some homework on BG, especially in the listing of notable alums (you did miss Tim Conway and Eva Marie Saint), but even I had to look up some of the ones you'd listed.
Obviously, we're all hoping that BG gives Fla. a good game and isn't the "patsy" you mentioned at the end of your mostly complimentary bio.
As for being a homer, well, yeah, I'm guilty. Thanks for looking! Please let me know if you have any questions about UF or Gainesville.

ESPN owns at least 50% of the SEC Network. Seeing as how they are now referring to games on 'ABC' as the "ESPN Network Family of Channels" I can only assume this game will be on the SEC Network and not the full-fledged "mothership"

Good to know, hopefully Clawson will prepare the team to handle both of them.Falcon137 wrote:Back to actual football news...Florida has announced both QBs will play vs BG.

The longer the walk, the farther you crawl.
Re: Game on
This is good news IMO. One of the two or both almost always struggle in these scenarios.Falcon137 wrote:Back to actual football news...Florida has announced both QBs will play vs BG.

Mark Wells and Ken Morrow (1980 US Olympic Hockey Team Gold Medalists)
Rob Blake (former NHL All-Star and star of 2008 movie "The Love Guru" -Mike Meyers of SNL-fame had a part in the movie as well)
Dan Bylsma (Head Coach of Pittsburg Penguins /2009 Stanley Cup Champions)
Ric Ocasek (lead singer of The Cars)
Judson Laippy (The Evolution of Dance)
Dave Coleman (The Dating Doctor- the movie Hitch was inspired by Dave)
Bernie Casey (SF 49'ers/ U.N. Jefferson, President of the national Lambda-Lambda-Lambda ("Tri-Lamb") fraternity in Revenge of the Nerds)
Phil Villapiano (Oakland Raiders)
Dave Preston (Denver Broncos)
Your prediction of pain.....part right. More like Pain in the Rear. Your Florida squad will have their hands full the first half of the game. In the second half, we should see your multi-million dollar BC$ team take control of the game and allow your fans to breathe a little easier. But for those expecting us to walk right in, take the check, and then to lay down for the almighty Florida Gators of the big bad SEC Conference <yawn>.....unless someone pulls a few semiautomatics out of the rear of their booster provided Cadillac Escalade.....it ain't gonna' happen that way.

Eva Marie Sant and Tim Conway are also alums.

I was actually going to mention Shantanu Narayen as an alum. He got his masters at BG and is now the CEO of Adobe.

Re: Game on
I agree with transfer2BGSU, don't forget that Miami of Ohio went down there a few years ago and was leading in the second quarter and played Florida pretty darn close throughout. Granted, that was a Miami team that won the MAC that year, but BG certainly has a shot to win it this year. Wouldn't surprise me at all if BG sticks with Florida. Talking to BG players around campus and listening to various Clawson interviews, this is a team that believes in their ability to win. Nevertheless, the game should be close for AT LEAST a half.
Re: Game on
I'm trying to get to Gainesville as our commitment that weekend has fallen through, does anyone have two tickets in or near the BG section!?
Yeah right girl!
Oorah!
Oorah!
Re: Game on
Stubhub still has cheap ones all around the stadium. I wish I would have heldout longer on buying mine.
Re: Game on
That game was an absolute rock fight. Dysert threw 4 picks, 1 was a pick 6. Florida's other scoring drives...5 plays 21 yards TD, 2 plays 2 yards TD, 2 plays 75 yards TD, 5 plays 55 yards TD.BGSUFanatic7 wrote:I agree with transfer2BGSU, don't forget that Miami of Ohio went down there a few years ago and was leading in the second quarter and played Florida pretty darn close throughout. This game will be interesting...no Chris Rainey, no Jeff Demps, no clear cut QB, new offensive coordinator. I'm not picking BG to win but I don't expect Florida to roll. If BG can eliminates turnovers and doesn't give big special teams plays up, it'll stay close.
