"Campbell has the best job in the MAC. Photographs commemorating the program's formidable tradition adorn updated facilities that leave nothing to be desired. Plus, it helps not having to recruit to a cornfield. The right coach can experience yearly success. The objective, Campbell says, is to take UT from good to consistently great. He'll have unlikely support. Not even people with the team down south want to look clueless."

Does Autullo think Campbell is recruiting kids to Chicago or New York? It's freakin' Toledo.

Can't wait for September 15th.

Just wait for them to discuss the "lone" tree in BG.

The Ph.D on their board only knows how to write "C K S". He must have done his undergrad at Michigan and watched too many hockey games.

F**k you too, Ryan...and yeah, you're right...it's much easier to recruit to a school that bumps up agaisnt a ghetto in a city where violent crime is on the upswing than a nice rural community like BG.

Dumbass....

I don't see tsun winning more than 6-7 games this year. They have 8 starters back, lost a ton of skill players and Campbell is the HC. He's a good coach but we'll find out just how good.

I think we're gonna kick their tails on 9/15...

As far as Ryan? Eh...they come, they go. He can write whatever he wants. He's just pissed cuz now he only gets to cover BG once a year to see all the hot women. They don't have hot women at tsun.

Maybe I'm just defending him because I know him and think he's a pretty nice dude, but I don't think he's bashing BG specifically. Toledo probably IS the best job in the MAC and by population I think it's the biggest market in the conference. I don't think this was meant at a jab solely at BG as much as it was the fact that much of the rest of the MAC plays in small rural communities. Oxford, Muncie, Dekalb, Athens, Bowling Green, and Ypsilanti all fit that definition.

But if it makes ya'll feel better we beat his ass at volleyball last night...

He did say on twitter that he was referring to a number of MAC schools. No, Ypsi and Akron are not rural, nor is Buffalo, but there are a lot of cornfields in the MAC. Ryan's a good guy...

You guys are missing the back story. The Rockette faithful have been beating him (and more The Blade) up and down on their message boards because they think there should be no UM, OSU or BG stories in the paper, but 10 Toledo stories every freaking day.

He's merely throwing them a bone so they STFU!

Anyone ever been to Clemson, SC? It's not exactly a metropolis. State College, PA? It's in BF Egypt. They recruit pretty well within their conferences.

But hey, if you enjoy a campus surrounded by ghetto in a dying city as opposed to college towns like, Bowling Green, Oxford and Athens then UT is your school.

I could almost see his point if UT was in a good neighborhood in Toledo surrounded by bars, restaurants, night life, etc. But it has none of those things.

Also how the hell does Toledo count it's population? It's bigger than Buffalo, almost as big as Cincinnati and twice as big as Dayton? Do they include all of the suburbs that surround it?

The biggest markets would be, N. Illinois (Chicagoland), Buffalo, Akron & Kent (Akron + Cleveland), Miami (Dayton + Cincy), and Eastern would be close with Ann Arbor and Detroit. BG is also the same market as Toledo.
