I have a much thinner scalp with all of the hair I pulled out from that game. I wouldn't have been so frustrated except that I saw us having a real chance of winning this game. For 75-80% of the game, our defense stood up to their offense, and our offense moved the ball. A few times I tried to figure out why we would run up the middle on third or fourth down, but if the play worked nobody would have questioned the thought.

The big glaring issues that made me want to jump through the TV? Joplin!!! Catch the stinking ball! Kickers! We should have a full-page ad in the BGNEWS on Tuesday looking for kickers. Lastly, the muffed punt bothered me, but the game was already swinging in Florida's favor at that point that I wasn't so irritated by it.

What I can say is that I feel pretty confident for this season based on seeing what I did.
ROLL ALONG!!!

Just got home from Gville. Like everyone else I'm extremely frustrated because we could have easily been up ten points to start the fourth quarter. I won't comment on the things that have beaten to death.

That was the best looking BG defense I have seen in ten seasons. Say what you want about the UF offense but they are full of talented players and for the most part we held them when we needed to. We came up with numerous stops on third and shorts, something we NEVER do in games like this.

Obviously Joplin was disappointing but for me Schilz was the biggest disappointment. I continue to not be impressed by him. Zero threat to run, telegraphs everything, and misses many easy passes. 3 years starting and his accuracy hasn't improved much. Hopefully this was a case of a really good defense making him look average.

We busted off more first down runs than i expected but would have liked to see more variety late in the 3rd quarter. Florida had those plays figured out after they worked 4-5 times.

Don't think we could have asked more from the O line. Numerous guys who will playing on Sundays on that defense and i don't remember Schilz being sacked?

Special teams continues to contribute to losses for Clawson. 2 field goals, muffed punt, near blocks leading to poor punts, miscue handling a kickoff, gave up a return past the 50... it's beyond frustrating.

I am encouraged though. This team has a ton of potential to win the Mac but we need to get the mistakes cleaned up by week 3.

Glad we went. Florida fans were great to us everywhere we went.

Florida has one of the best defenses in the SEC. I thought Schilz was great. 2 TD drives, drove down for 2 chip shot field goals and had them moving again before a drop led to a pick.

I didn't get the sense that we had too many mental lapses...more physical errors than anything else. The late muffed punt was one, Burbrink needed to call for the FC rather than try to make a play. I thik Stein should sit next weekend....you normally don't wan't to completely destroy a kid's confidence like that, but the program is at a point where you have to hold guys accountable for performance issues...the learning and rebuilding are done, it's now about results. That needs to be the message.

I hope you're right and I did mention it might have been the defense more than anything. I am probably being too critical on him. I have learned to never read too much into week one performances.

I liked how we played, just didnt get it done. The Florida fans were crapping their pants when they turned it over on their 30.

I think Schilz strength is getting the ball down the field. The line was pretty solid yesterday, especially with Cooper getting his 1st start against an NFL defensive end. But, Florida was getting a lot of pressure. Schilz made some good throws up the seem to Bayer and quick hitters to Burbrink and Gallon. Joplin sucked.

Against Idaho and MAC teams he's going to get time for 5 and 7 step drops to get the ball downfield. That's something we haven't seen much in the past few years.

I was impressed yesterday. Joplin was lost, he had 4 catches 30 yards, but had to have been targeted the most. But Burbrink, and Gallon were excellent. Burbrink caught everything his way and looks pretty shifty. Gallon just looks like he's going to be a big time wide receiver. The play he caught a little 5 yard out broke a tackle and almost took it for a score was a big time play for a freshman. Thought Stokes made some nice plays too, he's going to be a bigger part of the offense going forward.

Check ESPN3 if there's a replay available.

Completely agree with you there. He is very accurate over the middle on crossing routes. If Joplin would have been willing to take a hit there was a lot of oppurtunities there. I am not sure rolling him out ever accomplishes him much. There was one time they rolled him out and every single WR's route went the opposite way. Didn't get that one at all and the play never had a prayer.

I really like the other 3 receivers and Bayer at tight end. Not sure how fast Gallon is yet but he definitely has an NFL frame.
