I have a question
Maybe you guys have better memories than me( Gad! I sure hope so...you're a heck of lot younger). But did we do much "rugby style" punting last year, with one of the top punters in the country? It seems to me that the shanked punts on Sat. were of that variety and I don't remember Brian kicking that way last year. Also, looking at the stats, he had THREE punts for over 50 yds. So why kick "unnaturally"? Also, the POOCH kicks on kickoffs when we supposedly have a freshman kicker with a very strong leg....were we THAT afraid of Fla. returners? Just a couple of reactions to our probs. on spec. teams.

Re: I have a question
Schmiedebusch did do some rugby style punting last year. My guess is some of that also had to do with the way Florida came after punts. Clawson said they had the fake punt. In fact it looked like the same fake from the Toledo game last year.
As far as Florida special teams go...Duboise is one of the top 5 return men in the country. I don't blame them for skying to try and keep it away. The one kickoff it didn't work was when BG kicked from the 20, he got it to about the 15. Muschamp said early in the week it would basically have to be through the endzone for him not to bring it out.

Re: I have a question
At least one of those 50+ yarders was with a rugby style punt. I believe that's the style that he either naturally uses or that they asked him to use. I think one of the shanks was actually tipped, while the other was just clearly a shank.

Re: I have a question
What makes a rugby punt attractive against a team like Florida is the chance to limit returns. Granted, it didn't work especially well, but I think that's what he likes about it.

Re: I have a question
The fact that our Defense only let Florida get a Field Goal after the 10-yard punt set them up at our 20 was absolutely awesome. I feel like last year or the year before, we would have hung our heads and the Gators would have scored in a play or two. This is a new season, for sure! WIN THE MAC!
