Idaho Predictions

Post by kdog27 »

I would like to see us for once show that we can take it to what should be an inferior team and blow them out. Last year we built a big lead on Idaho and then sat on the ball in the second half. We are at home and have no excuse not to dominate a team that just got handled by an FCS team.

54-13 BG wins, we miss two XP attemps, Idaho breaks a long touchdown score and then puts up two field goals.

Forgot to mention that we will also miss every field goal we attempt, and we recruit a back-up offensive lineman to attempt the final kick (I really hope I'm wrong with this).

This game will be closer than you think. Idaho's starting QB didn't play last week due to disciplinary issues and will be playing this week, that will certainly improve their offense enough from last week. Also, a team coming off of an embarrassing loss to a FCS school is always something to be wary of the week after. BG needs to keep focus and play a full game. Spread on this game in Vegas in 16.5, and I think BG barely beats it.

Florida last week....Toledo next week. Easily could be a trap game. That said, Idaho is brutal, like really bad. BG lets them hang around for a little bit and pulls away.

Idaho is dangerous. They are hungry for a win, more like starved for a win, after last week's showing. They will feel like a "complete" team with their QB back. They are going on the road wanting payback after a team from NW Ohio went on the road at the start of last season and embarrassed them. And, as 137 said, the schedule presents this is a trap game. They cannot, absolutely cannot be taken lightly. I believe we win but it will be a pretty close game. Our guys come out on fire knowing how close they were to making history a week before and they get an early lead but Idaho never goes away.

Oh, and kicking job reopens and Tyler Tate, seeing the opportunity, seizes it and gets the nod against Idaho. Steven Stein improves drastically and comes back in later in the season when needed.

I like the Falcons to win this one but, oddly, I am not as optimistic about beating Idaho as I was about the opportunity to beat Florida. Our boys have to be ready, no matter who is lined up across the field. Don't think the Vandals don't remember what we did to them last year at home. They will definitely be looking for some revenge but we will NOT let them get it. Of course, I will be in attendence and I haven't seem a home-team win a sporting event this calendar year. Sorry if we lose.

I think BG is gonna be very hungry after the near miss in Gainesville. We played well against a Top 25 team and Idaho is a team in trouble. BG needs to flex some muscle this week and get the ball rolling for the tsun the following week. Schiltz will direct an attack putting up some BiG numbers and our D will hold the Vandal O to minimal success. Special teams? Well, hopefully things get corrected this week and I see Tate getting a chance kicking. Home opener, under the lights. We should be at the Doyt no later than 1.

Call me crazy, but I think there's a possibility BG loses on Saturday night. This is the kind of game where we're a big favorite at home that we've been known to lose. At the very least, when favored by 10 or more points at home, BG almost never covers.

I think the game stays very close, possibly because of turnovers on offense (think Wyoming game last year), but BG gets it together in the 2nd half and wins ugly.

Pretty much how I feel about it, bgsufalcon24.

The past 4 or 5 years, these are games that we should win that we find a way to lose. I'd like to think we're a different team this year and this game will be a good test. If we lose, same old team. If we win big, and we should, I think we're in for a good year - maybe even 10 wins.

Don't write off Idaho. They have some solid players and just as many wins as we do. We have a significant advantage on d line vrs their o line I think. They've got enough play makers on both sides of the ball to be dangerous.

Normally I don't like to get cocky about BG's chances, but this time I'll make an exception. Idaho lost 20-3 to a double A school last week. BG put up a great fight against a perennial contender in the SEC.

Eastern Washington may be on their way up, but they are still a double A school. Florida may not be in their best years, but they are still an SEC team...they still have beefcakes on their lines, they will always have stud running backs, they will always have plenty of speed, they will always have serviceable options in skill positions, and they still had returned a lot of what made up one of the best defenses in college football from last year.

If last week is any indication, Idaho is in for a rough one.

Having said that, my prediction is that BG takes an early lead, and then Clawson puts the playbook in lockdown.

I'm not saying I agree with it, but I think that is what he will do. I realize you don't want a rival team to get extra footage of your offense, but you don't want Toledo getting extra footage of your defense. Especially after Toledo's defensive stand last week (635 yards allowed).
