Ok. Trot the kicker out there for the 1 pt., he misses, and we are down 9 as well. The team is still deflated. I think at that point, Clawson felt going for 2 was either just as likely or more likely to occur as the 1.jpfalcon09 wrote:Exactly, not getting that conversion ended the game, XP keeps it one possession and your players motivated on defense to get a stop. It was a terrible coaching decision.bgsufalcon24 wrote:Cmon people really?! You're down by 9 following a touchdown. You kick the extra point and make sure that you make it a 1 possession game. If you go for two and don't make it, you completely deflate your team and lose all the momentum you had, not to mention you make your task of coming back that much harder. That's exactly what happened.Dayons_Den wrote:I agreed with going for 2.Zig wrote:Am I the only one who thinks going for 2 was a good decision, or at the very least a level-headed gamble? Any other conclusion is an egregiously bad grasp of simple mathematics.

Same. I can make an argument for it either way. Find an above average HS kicker and were not having this conversation anyway.
The real problem with this team since 2009 continues to be coaching. What an atrocious offense we came out with for the THIRD straight week. Dink and dunk passes is BS. Call plays like they did from second quarter on and we're 3-0 right now.
IMO Clawson is great everywhere but the actual game and unfortunately he is awful there. We should have scored 40+ tonight.

2...1...whatever...worrying about one specific coaching decision in a game where a first year HC is a step ahead your staff that's in it's 4th year together is a bit like worrying about what shoes your wife is wearing when she cheats on you....
And no, my wife is not cheating on me...never has...probably never will

He calls plays every week in the first quarter like it's Schilzs first collegiate game. I was at the game at Troy 2 years ago when he first played and I swear he had a bigger Playbook to work with then.

I'm afraid that Clawson may have lost his job last night.

Assuming BG has an AD who would make that change. I'll wager Clawson gets a contract extention.

I just found out that UT didn't reserve enough seats for our band so the FMB had to send two full bus loads back home.
I never even liked the fact the we travelled to other Mac schools. Wish we would stop if this is the way its gonna go.

Re: BG v UT
Like I said way back on page 2. We have a kicking problem. Punts, kickoffs, field goals and xp's. Doesn't matter. We aren't good at it. We haven't been good at it in years. The last good kicker we probably had was Suisham. How long ago was that. Great teams are perfectionist in every phase of the game (see Bama). Good teams are strong in most aspects of the game, weak in none, and stellar in a couple (see BG when we had Harris/Jacobs). Mediocre teams try in most aspects of the game, and stuggle in one or two areas....occasionally they manage to string something special together for 4 quarters. Bad teams just go through the motions. Right now we are a mediocre team, and one of the big areas we struggle in is kicking.

Re: BG v UT
There was a huge problem with the ticketing situation last night. I got to my section only to be told by an usher that the BGSU band had been put in the area were my seat was. WTF? You sold me four tickets in the band's area?
The usher told me to find a spot...that there was "plenty of room". Really? the game is sold out..how is there plenty of room. We found four near where we were supposed to be and waited to play musical chairs. There were a number of people who had tickets for our section who came down the aisle, looked at the crush of people where they were supposed to be and just walked away.
I had been impressed with the UT ticket people..now, not so much

I think it's time for a new special team coach. Fire him first then fire Clawson at the end of the season.

I'd be up for firing Ruggiero too if this vanilla playcalling keeps going.OSUFALCON wrote:I think it's time for a new special team coach. Fire him first then fire Clawson at the end of the season.
