Lindy's picks BG to finish....wait for it....wait for it....

We can get him when he gets homesick and transfers.

I didn't think I dissed Orr at all, at least concerning this situation. I was glad to see Vito head to Wisconsin, as I think it will do him a lot of good to be on his own and learning from handling his own situations.

Well said, Hammb. And it's pretty sad this is what BG hoops has become. I like Coach Orr. Nice guy, good man. But we are goin nowhere at this point. It is the same thing every year. Something has to change cuz I don't have confidence BG will be a player as long as the current staff is in place. I had high hopes for Coach Orr. But clearly it ain't gonna happen on his watch.hammb wrote:No doubt about it this program is in the shitter. And it shouldn't be. We have the best building in the conference and until about 10 years ago were a pretty damn good MAC hoops program. Now we're a freaking joke.
Louis Orr has done NOTHING to keep his job. Last year was supposed to be his year with his recruits hitting senior status, new building, good mix of youth/vets, and they go out and crap the bed.
The only returners who have done anything are a selfish, me-first PG who cannot create offense for anybody but himself (and his jumpshot sucks), and a headcase PF who should be an All-MAC player but can't seem to figure it out under a coaching staff that is still waiting to figure out what it means to develop a player.

Is Xavier any less of a D-I player than our very own James Erger??? Because we sure as hell gave him a scholarship.Warthog wrote:I had heard the same thing about Vitto having no interest in BG because of Orr not recruiting Xavier at all. And I agree that Xavier is a Div II/III talent. He did average 13 points per game last season as a freshman for Wooster. By the same token, I always thought Chauncey was a Div II/III player but he somehow ended up with a scholarship to BG.factman wrote:Here is my question? Did Wisconsin recruit his brother , Xavier?
I have been told by more than one person "in the know", that Vito was not interested in BG because we did not recruit his brother (nor should we have). I guess Xavier must have turned down Wisconsin and gone to Wooster!!!If I were Coach Orr, I would not want that "situation" on my team either. Sometimes it is just better for a player to go away from home.......and in this case I think it is.
If I follow your thought process correctly here, you dissed Orr for not being able to get Vitto. Then you complimented Orr for not recruiting his brother Xavier. And followed that up by saying you wouldn't have wanted the issues that Vitto might have brought. Which to me means you are happy that Orr didn't get Vitto. So what are you bitchin' about?
GO BG!!!

This sums it up pretty well. Last year, I got hit up to help buy extra tickets so the home finale would be sold out.hammb wrote:No doubt about it this program is in the shitter. And it shouldn't be. I'm done giving money to this program until there is a coaching change, and I would hope other Falcon Club members would feel the same.
Re: Lindy's picks BG to finish....wait for it....wait for it
After 30+ years, I'm done giving to the Falcon Club, period, until there is a change at the top of the department!
If they tell me I can't get my Anderson Club seats for men's and women's basketball, so be it! It's certainly not a problem getting a GA ticket, whenever I want to go.

I cant name a guy outside of Clarke that I have been uber excited that we signed in the Orr era.
With that said I am semi excited by Parker and Holmes this year.
A year by year look at those guys.
2013
Mayleben 6-8 PF with average stats and my guess is very average athleticism
Denny 6-1 SG who will be too undersized and unathletic to guard other teams 2's but will be a great shooter.
2012
Spencer Parker Not heavily recruited 6-7 Prep school guy Averaged 24 points, 10 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game as a senior
Richaun Holmes Not heavily recruited 6-8 Juco guy Broke out as a senior with 11.0 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 4.1 blocks per game (I think he fills the Oglesby hole seemlessly actually)
Josh Gomez Not heavily recruited 6-10 Iona transfer. Averaged 4.4 points in hs.
2011
Desmond Rorie 6-9 Post not heavily recruited who redshirted first year
Jehvon Clarke 6-2 Clarke averaged 15.5 points, 5.6 assists and 3.0 steals per game as a junior. Not sure about his Sr stats.
Chauncey Orr 6-3 Wing, not heavily recruited although I think he is a D1 player allbeit a utility guy
2010
Anthony Henderson 6-1 Guard not heavily recruited and redshirted freshman year
Cam Black 6-9 Big with injury history not heavily recruited
Craig Sealey 6-8 Forward with stud athleticism not heavily recruited
2009
Jordon Crawford 5-5 Guard not heavily recruited but should have been because he is all world. Cant wait to track his stats this year as he will end up in the elite at BG in both steals and assists. Truly a great player.
Luke Kraus 6-2 guard who can best be described as gutty.
James Erger 6-7 wing with rare ability to get playing time.

Crawfords stats 2011 11.3 pts 4.8ast 1.7steals 45% shooting from the fieldBleedOrange wrote:No surprise. The program is dead. Nothing to see here. Move along.
Calhoun stats 2011 13.8 pts 48.5% from the field.
Those guys are studs. They certainly have blemishes and I agree with the lack of development but they are both studs.
Re: Lindy's picks BG to finish....wait for it....wait for it
Sorry I have to agree with Bleed on those two. Sure the talent level they possess could be stud level in the MAC, but they haven't proven to be at all. They're wildly inconsistent. Crawford's stat line you posted there looks fine but when you realize he's your primary ball handler and turns it over insane amounts to go along with that pedestrian scoring? And despite 4.8 assists it's not very often he's creating easy shots for his teammates either...no thank you on him. Calhoun averages 13.8 because he'll score 20 one night and 6 the next. In 3 years he's never shown any ability to consistently keep his head in the games.Globetrotter wrote:Crawfords stats 2011 11.3 pts 4.8ast 1.7steals 45% shooting from the fieldBleedOrange wrote:No surprise. Yeah, they're both talented, but they've not developed into anything at the MAC level. When those two guys are your best players (playing the way they did last year) you're going to have a shitty MAC team.
If we're not the far & away worst team in the East this year I'll be shocked. I fully expect this season to be Orr's swan song (last year should have been).
Re: Lindy's picks BG to finish....wait for it....wait for it
I wouldn't call Crawford a stud. I'd say he is a guy with a world of potential but has yet to hit anywhere near his ceiling. He's shown flashes of brilliance though. I really hope he gives one consistently excellent year with this being his final year coming up.

I don't think we have a "stud" on this team. Calhoun could be...but his effort seems spotty and when teams collapse on him he seems to get frustrated and give up.

Re: Lindy's picks BG to finish....wait for it....wait for it
If Crawford is all world what does that make D J Cooper from OU? What's the next three levels up? Compared to Crawford he couldn't just be All-Solar System and All-Galaxy might be too limiting as well, but All-Universe would be too encompassing of players better than either Crawford or Cooper. I guess I'd go with All-Milky Way. Of course that's only based on the assumption that Crawford really IS All-World. That also means we have to find niches for the hundred or so other guards in the NCAA that are superior. I'm likely to run out of celestial references for this project.
