Re: Bad...
We have all been fooled in one way or another. I never thought he was a good coach at this level but I did think he had at least built a mediocre team of talent. All along he has used the crutch of having to rebuild. He can't get away with that anymore.
The offense is outclassed by bad defenses (Idaho, Toledo). No speed anywhere on that roster.

Re: Bad...
That was one of the worst offensive performances I've ever seen. We have one passing touchdown in 16 quarters of football. This team may be able to beat Akron, EMU and UMass, but right now they're looking at a 4-8 season.
The longer the walk, the farther you crawl.
Re: Bad...
Defense played outstanding in the first quarter. Offense at times moved but yet again didn't finish drives. Our lack of faith in the kicking game is tanking this team.
Offensive play calling was suspect. I like Ruggiero for his QB work but play calling in games has to change to capitalize on the team's talents I think.

Re: Bad...
Do you think Urban or even(glup) Brandon would cont. to run the kicker out their? ... NO.. start going for it score some touchdowns.... I said it when he came to BG talking about winning on D and playing with double TE's and balance that this was a terrible hire.... Teams that win in the MAC and have sustained success spread you out and win with speed and a mobile good QB... see UT BG NIU OU(presently) they all have had or have mobile quarterback with speed at WR and creative play calling we lack of this currently... and I actually think the talent is on the roster, but he if to arrogant he will never change his style... see Andre Givens today... Also you have a guy like Stokes with that speed he should be playing some wildcat ect... Just Fustrating

Re: Bad...
Those teams have that offense, true, but to win this conference you have to have a consistently good defense as well as a spread offense. This has been lacking in BG for a very long time.
Funny, we have never had a good offense and good defense at the same time from year to year since the early 90's.

Re: Bad...
I think our defense is strong if not outstanding. When the O consistently goes three and out the D gets wasted. They have been much stronger than i expected and they've had to deal with the most injuries too.
Talk all you want anout our predictable and uninteresting offense and predictably bad special teams.
Note to coach Clawson, watch BG game film during Urban era, ya gotta throw some trickeration into the mix.

Re: Bad...
Total special teams isn't bad. Kick coverage is decent as is the punting.
As with everything BG, scoring points is everything so poor place kicking is the rotten apple which spoils the squad.

Re: Bad...
My message here will be consistent with everything I've been saying for the past week. This team would be pretty dang tough if the offense could just move the ball, and put up the occasional touchdown.
I don't know if it is Clawson or Ruggiero, but somebody has got to start calling plays that stretch the field and create mismatches. I'm convinced the talent is there, but the refusal to open up the playbook is sending another season down the tubes.
I don't have an issue with taking the power run plays and short range passes, when they are working. Bottom line, if you can pick up 5 yards on every play, you will destroy your opponent. However, when defenses are stacking the line and plugging up the underneath, you have to adjust your strategy. The offense is too vanilla, and it is making bad defenses look brilliant.
The tailgate crowd knows it, the message board trolls know it, the sports analyst for the Sentinel knows it.....everybody seems to know it except the people whose job it is to fix it.
It upsets me because I believe in Clawson's system. I've already stated my opinions for what he has done for our program. However, if he doesn't get this offense in gear, and soon, I don't think he will be the coach here for much longer. They may not fire him, but I doubt he'll see a contract extension.
