Recruiting News, Something smells odd
Recruiting News, Something smells odd
This is from a Rivals sight and they talked to Jacque Jackson about BG.
"I committed to Bowling Green a few weeks ago and I thought every thing was good," Jackson said. "The next day they called me and two of my other teammates who they had offered and committed and they said that they were pulling our offers. The guy recruiting us telling us we had offers all along was the guy who got in trouble at Colorado."
Either we have some big time recruits commiting or something fell through becuase this isn't right. A nationally ranked LB and two of his teamates and we pull their offers from them? WTF? Joesph better get his crap together.

Hmmm...the other two kids might be Brandin Jordan and Darrin Taylor...at least that's the only kids Rivals lists from that school.
The reference to Joseph "being in trouble at Colorado" might be a smokescreen to hide some other issue, like kids higher on our list coming available or maybe something along academic lines or Coach Joseph might have jumped the gun in offering them.

Falconman...get the facts before you go jumping Joseph. I don't think we should assume Joseph has some "crap" to take care of strictly based on some off comment from a recruit. Also, it's definitely in poor taste, but offers get pulled back all the time. Sometimes a visit doesn't go well and the recruits do some things that team members see as trouble and they will even request that an offer be pulled. Sometimes a guys stock drops due to a poor season. Sometimes a teams needs change based on things that happen through the season, like Crossley, Stover, Perry, etc. that drive the need to recruit a different position. It's unfortunate, but in the end, it's a business and they are in this to win.
For the High Schooler, it's a shame, because that kid could have lost interest from other schools that felt he was going to BG and would be a waste of time. His own coaches may have quit shopping him around because they felt he had a home. Now, very late in the process he has to get a new offer and that may mean a 1-AA school, because the 1-A schools have their needed commits already.

There's a new kid listed on Rivals that we HAVE to sign.
He's Florida WR Carnell Sanders....think of all the Colonel Sanders jokes we could make if this kid came here. He's 6 feet tall weighs about a buck seventy and apparently runs a 4.4 40. We're in there with Tenn State, Utah State and Akron. Not exactly power schools after him along with us...but I really like that name.

This is part of why I don't blame players for staying in touch with teams between their verbal committment and signing day. You never know, and you need backups.BelieveNBG wrote:For the High Schooler, it's a shame, because that kid could have lost interest from other schools that felt he was going to BG and would be a waste of time. Unless something major happened in this whole deal, like grades or crimminal action then I don't think it's right what we did to them. I just think that if were going to offer a kid then thats fine. When he gives us his commitment than we have to keep that becuase we gave him our word that he will be playing for us next year. It's not fair to a kid to tell him ya you can come play here and then he gives us his word that he will play hear and then back out of that agreement. I just don't think that's right. If we're going to off him than stick with it. How's anyone ever going to trust us if our word doesn't mean anyting?
Transfer: sorry for offering my opinion I forgot since I'm a senior in high school I don't have an opinion.
This is a message board. I wasn't calling him out I was just saying I didn't think that was fair for us to offer them and they gave us their word, and then we pulled out of the deal

WTF? Joesph better get his crap together.
That was more than just an opinion. That was an accusation without the facts. Maybe there was something "major" and maybe the kid isn't telling the whole story. Maybe he was never really offered, but BG was in the "we are interested stage". If there is no letter, no visit, etc., there is no offer. Now, if there was an offer and it got pulled, agreed, it was wrong unless there was some major issue. All I am saying is don't assume there is any crap unless you have the facts.

It can work both ways. It is unfair if a school offers a player they takes that away if it suits the interest of the school. Maybe a better player becomes available and you want to open up the scholarship. The players may stop looking taking your word that he has a scholarship.
But it works the other way as well. A player who is not offerred by the school he really wants, gives his acceptance and then changes his mind.
Hopefully, there is more to this than BG going against its word.
